Marcus notes infecting four Leeches with the experimental virus.[2]

Marcus notes on this day that the initial four Leeches have doubled their size and numbers. However, a lack of suitable nourishment loses 2 Leeches to cannibalism.[2]

Marcus notes that half of the Leeches are killed when the live feed fought back. He also notes that their cannibalism is ceasing and that their individuality was being replaced with a more collective thinking.[2]

Marcus notes that the Leeches have evolved into the use of a collective-consciousness.[2]

Marcus notes about an employee stumbling onto his experiments. As to not reveal his experiments, Marcus wonders on if a Human can be an adequate food source for his Leeches.[2]

Umbrella closes the Training Facility in the Arklay Mountains. Marcus however, continues his research regarding the t-virus.

  • Birkin searches through research documents of the Ebola virus which had been discovered in Africa.
  • Wesker notes how 90% of people infected with the Ebola virus will die, and how frightening it would be to be used as a weapon. Spencer on the other hand, is already planning on mass-produced B.O.W.'s (Bio-Organic Weapons)
  • In an early experiment for such a weapon, Birkin ponders on taking a sample of the Progenitor virus and adding Ebola to it, he soon forgets this when he and Wesker witness Lisa Trevor for the first time.

Marcus discovers that by merging Progenitor with Leech DNA, he can create a superior variant. He names this virus "t", for "tyrant".[3]

Marcus' almost gives up with his virology research, realising that he could only truly test the power of the virus on Human test subjects.[3]

Marcus begins to suspect someone knows of his research - he blames it on his imagination. He notes, however, that were someone to be caught spying on him, they will "assist" him in his research.[3]
