A .357 Magnum revolver appearing in Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Code Veronica. In Resident Evil's remake, the Colt Python is demoted from Barry's main weapon to a weapon that is found inside the Mansion, while Barry's revolver is switched to the Colt Anaconda. The Python found in the Remake is known as the Elite Python, an Umbrella produced variant.
Like all magnums appearing in the Resident Evil series, the Colt Python is very powerful, often killing regular enemies in a single hit, but has an exceedingly limited supply of ammunition and should generally be saved for boss battles.
[edit] Comparison to the Silver Serpent
The Silver Serpent replaced the Colt Python as Barry's main weapon in the RE1 Remake. It is essentially the same weapon, but with a large muzzle weight running the length of the barrel, and having a dull silver finish, as well as being chambered for the more powerful .44 Magnum round. The Colt Python can still be found in the game, however it has a similar appearance to the Silver Seprent, including a large recoil suppressor under the barrel and a custom grip.
