The Executioner is a Majini that carries an enormous axe. The Executioner's role in the storyline is minimal, serving as the literal executioner in the death of Reynard Fisher. After some time has passed in the following swarm of Majini, the Executioner will enter the fray and try to kill Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar. If the player does not kill him, he will disappear with all the other remaining Majini when Kirk arrives to blow open the gate. Jill Valentine and Josh Stone encounter the Executioner as they head to the communication facility.

Description
Edit
The Executioner is a very large foe wearing a blood-soaked black cloth over his head that conceals his face, and a large black apron, tattered and soaked in blood, very tall and has the physique of a power-lifter. He also has dozens of nails protruding from every few square inches of his exposed skin, including three very large hooks impaled into his back. His most notable feature, however, is his weapon of choice: a very large and heavy axe with what appears to be an over-sized hammer opposite to the blade.
In the Prison level of the Resident Evil 5 mercenaries game, it features a red Executioner.
Appearances
Edit
- His first and only appearances in Story mode is in the very first level, Public Assembly. After a certain amount of time has passed during the initial swarm of Majini, he will make his appearance.
- He also appears in the Mercenaries and Versus modes as Public Assembly's and Prison's boss. Note that in Mercenaries and Versus, he is able to jump up to higher levels, unlike the one fought in story mode.
- He also appears in several levels in the Mercenaries 3D game.
Strategy
Edit
Killing the Executioner with normal weapons is quite easy to achieve on lower difficulties, provided the player picks up some hand grenades and keep shooting around his head area when he drops, or assault him when he drops. Upon dying, the Executioner will drop a gold ring.
The Executioner is slower than the Town Majini, and his attacks are quite reckless; he can be use by the player to take out enemies close to him in Chapter 1-1.
Attacks
Edit
- Axe Slam - An overhead swing. Takes the player into dying status.
- Axe Swing - One or two horizontal swings. If he catches both of the player's characters it will result in instant death.
- Berserk - Usually only happens when he has lost a considerable amount of health, he will use the Axe Swing attack repeatedly, sometimes also doing an Axe Slam attack. He is extremely dangerous during this, but he also moves much slower and will kill any Majini caught in his swings.
- Grab/Choke - The executioner holds the player up in the air and chokes them. If the player fails to escape from the executioner's grasp, they will have one more chance at survival by means of a button prompt. If the prompt is not carried out successfully, the executioner slams his axe into the player, resulting in instant death.
Melee Prompts
Edit
- Kneel - The Executioner will kneel down after being caught by almost any attack that damages him enough, allowing an opening for Uppercut for Chris, Somersault for Sheva, Sweep Kick for Jill, Tiger Uppercut for Wesker, Burton Kick For Barry, Disco Spin for Excella, Jump Hit for Rebecca and Backhand for Josh.
- Recovering from Melee - The Executioner will only do this upon being hit by a melee attack. The player will prompted to do Straight for Chris, Roundhouse for Sheva, High Kick for Jill, Cobra Strike for Wesker, Hurricane for Barry, High Heel for Excella, Flame Spray for Rebecca and Hammer Blow for Josh.
In other Media

Resident Evil films
Edit
- Main article: Axeman

Added by Extreme65animeThe Executioner Majini appears in the film, "Resident Evil: Afterlife", where he is known as the Axeman, since only types of zombies and no products of Plaga exist in this continuity. He is one of the main antagonists of the movie, and appears to be much thinner than he was in the games.[1]
Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds
Edit
The Executioner Majini appears in the Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds prologue comic, where it is incorrectly stated he is a creation of Wesker. He confronts Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine at an unnamed research laboratory and appears to have the upper hand before there is a flash of light and the Hulk miraculously appears. The Hulk grabs the Executioner and quickly defeats him before proclaiming "HULK SMASH MONSTER EXECUTIONER!". The Executioner does not appear in the game nor in its update, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
Resident Evil: The Deck Building Game
Edit
The Executioner appears as a unique Infected card in the Resident Evil DBG. There is only one card of his kind in the base set. He has 30 Health, and can inflict 30 Damage if he is not defeated and has no effects. He is one of the few cards that is removed from the Mansion Area in Mercenaries Mode. He is worth 3 Decorations.
Trivia
Edit
- In early trailers of the game, The Executioner is depicted as a Chainsaw Majini wielding an axe.
- The Executioner Majini bears a striking resemblance to both Pyramid Head and The Butcher from the Silent Hill video game series. All three creatures are large males having their faces hidden behind masks (Pyramid Head wears a triangle shaped helmet and The Butcher wear half of a mask, and the rest of his face is non-recognizable) and carrying large bladed weapons which they drag behind them.
- The Executioner in [[Resident Evil Afterlife]] is faster than his video game counter part.
- The reason behind the Executioner's exceptional vitality is a muscle and skin enhancing chemical, a unique secretion found only in the Executioner.
- After the short cutscene in Public Assembly, the Executioner will appear next to the explosive barrel next to the right of the gate. The Executioner can be killed before he breaks down the gate.
- Like the Chainsaw Majini, the player will encounter the weapon used by the Executioner first, and then encounter the Executioner himself.
- He is perhaps the most iconic of Re5's enemies, appearing on the box art of Mercenaries 3-D as well.
