Glock 17

From Resident Evil Wiki

Weapon
Glock 17
Ammo: 9x19mm Parabellum
Feed Type: 17 Round Magazine
Action: semi-auto
Type: Handgun
custom(?): No

The Glock 17 is a semi-automatic, double-action only handgun made by Glock of Austria that is chambered for the 9x19mm Parabellum round. It is known for being the first popular pistol using high-impact polymers in its design (The Glock is often incorrectly believed to have been the first "plastic pistol", a title that really belongs to the H&K VP70). In every game where the original Glock 17 appears, it carries 17 rounds. The Glock is known for being both extremely simple (with a mere 34 parts) and extremely reliable.

The Glock 17 is also the basis for a wide variety of handguns, all of which are given the name "Glock" followed by a numerical designation. All of these handguns are generally similar, if not identical in appearance.

  • Resident Evil Code: Veronica - The Glock 17 serves as Chris Redfield's starting weapon. As the game progresses it can be upgraded to a Glock 17L.
  • Resident Evil: Survivor - In Gun Survivor, the Glock 17 is the player's starting weapon. It carries 17 rounds with an average rate of fire and damage and is labeled Handgun A. An aesthetically identical, yet more powerful version is also available under the name Handgun B.
  • Resident Evil Outbreak: File 2 - It is referred to as the Handgun GL.
  • Resident Evil: Degeneration - In Degeneration, Angela Miller's sidearm is a custom Glock 17 with a weighted compensator and target sights. Incidentally, Tokyo Marui, an airsoft company that has worked with Capcom and produced replicas of the in-game firearms, produces a "Glock 26 advanced" with identical modifications, albeit based on a much smaller pistol.
  • Resident Evil: Extinction - Claire Redfield used a Glock 17 as well as several Umbrella soldiers.
