The MP5 is a 9mm sub-machine gun designed by German gun manufacturer Heckler & Koch in the late sixties, based on the G3 series of assault rifles. It's gained a reputation for extreme accuracy for a sub-machine gun and as a police and special forces weapon due to its use by several military and law enforcement agencies, including the U.S Special Forces, Special Air Service, GSG-9 and several Special Weapons and Tactics teams.

The MP5 was the weapon of choice for the Select Police Force and the Umbrella Special Service. The player can use the MP5 in Resident Evil: Outbreak and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and they have been seen in Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. It is often one of the primary machine guns featured.

  • Heckler & Koch M-59 Project Model 59: An early variant of the MP5. It is available in Resident Evil 0 as an unlockable weapon. To unlock it, receive an A ranking upon successfully completing the game. Infinite ammunition can be unlocked for it..

  • MP5A3: Members of the U.S.S. are seen using this weapon against Birkin.

  • MP5A3: Members of the R.P.D. Select Police Force are seen using this weapon while trying to hold back an incoming wave of undead. It was never made usable in the game.

[edit] Resident Evil Outbreak / Outbreak: File 2

  • MP5A4: An MP5A4 with a modified fore grip which includes a flashlight. In File 1, it can be found on the hospital roof of The Hive. Only Kevin and Cindy can acquire it though. In File 2, It can be found in the garage shutter or the holding cells(after giving Ben the right film) in Desperate Times. It can also be found on various locations in End of the Road.

  • MP5A1: The first sub-machine gun obtained.
  • MP5A5: The second sub-machine gun obtained. This version features a UMP-style skeletal folding stock and a straight magazine.

  • MP5K-PDW: Angela Miller is seen using this variant with a custom hand guard and fore grip that includes an integrated flashlight as well as a raised top rail mounted in place of the factory original sights very similar to a G36C's and a retractable butt stock instead of the PDW folding stock.

Rain Ocampo used an MP5K in this movie as her primary weapon. Alice also found one in her bedroom drawer.

S.T.A.R.S. members were seen using the MP5A3, while Alice had a pair of custom MP5Ks with the foregrips removed and nickel plated receivers.

  • MP5A3: With a reflex sight, the foregrip with the surefire flashlight and the navy trigger group. It is found in the beginning of chapter 2-1. Here it features a base firepower of 60, a reload speed of 2.70 seconds and a capacity of 45 rounds but it's maximum stats are a firepower of 120, a reload speed of 2.10 seconds and a capacity of 150 rounds. It has the special ability of "Piercing" much like the H&K P8.
