The Iluzija was a B.O.W. encountered by Chris Redfield, Piers Nivans and several other B.S.A.A. operatives while dealing with the bioterror in Lanshiang, China, primarily in the inner Poisawan area. Its name is derived from the Serbian word for "illusion".

Biology

The Iluzija closely resembles a serpent in its body shape and mannerisms, though enormous in size, and might have based on Yawn. It was originally a human that was exposed C-Virus. It is easily able to fling an average-sized human male with great force. Instead of two primary fangs, the Iluzija seems to have a line of thick fangs along its jaw, that bend forward similar to a viper's as it opens its mouth.

The most threatening ability of the Iluzija is its ability to blend in almost perfectly with its surroundings. While doing so, the snake is nearly impossible to see, with only a mild rippling haze visible when it moves.A flaw in this ability is that the inside of its mouth becoming completely visible when it opens to prepare for an attack.

History

The Iluzija was unleashed in Lanshiang during the bioterrorist attack by Neo-Umbrella, killing numerous B.S.A.A. forces. The creature attacked Alpha Team and dragged off one its members, forcing the remaining members, led by Chris Redfield, to give chase. They pursued the beast to an apartment complex, where it began picking off the soldiers one by one, which greatly angered Chris who became determined to exterminate the B.O.W.

Alpha Team eventually cornered the Iluzija and manage to weaken it by attacking its vulnerable mouth. The creature fled into a flooded maze where it hardened its scales to protect itself. Unable to kill the beast with their weapons, Chris lured the monster into a pool of water and electrocuted it with power cables, finally eliminating it.

Behavior

True to the nature of its abilities, the Iluzija seems to primarily be a stealth-based attacker. It uses its camouflage ability to hide from its prey as it circles around and stalks them, waiting for the opportunity to attack. The Iluzija will open its mouth wide, giving its location away briefly, before it strikes. Although this is a sure sign, sometimes it is not as easily noticeable as it will sometimes attack from above as well.

The Iluzija will also go through walls or where applicable up from under its prey to attack. It demonstrates enough strength to easily smash its head through a floor-ceiling to strike downwards at a target.^[1] Its primary mode of attacking is to snap its jaws down upon its prey to drag them away, though it has also been seen that it uses its large body to constrict its prey.

Gameplay

The Illuzija relies on stealth to ambush its prey. With its camouflage ability, the creature is hard to detect. Its attacks are:

Constrict: The creature wil wrap their body around its prey attempting to weaken him/her, prompting the QTE. If failed, the Illuzija will bite the player's head resulting in an instant death.
Grab and Throw: The camera automatically directs at the creature, signalling that it will perform this attack. If the Illuzija successfully grabs hold of the player a QTE will commence and if failed the creature will fling the player around the room and throw him/her to the ground dealing moderate amount of damage.

Strategy

The Illuzija is almost impossible to see with its ability to blend in with the background, but players with keen eyes can spot the creature easily as it usually leaves a vague ripple giving away its position. Chris' Assault Rifle or the Assault Shotgun should do the job in damaging the creature. The Illuzja's attacks usually has a noticeable wind-up leaving it vulnerable. The Grab and Throw leaves the creature open so when it performs this attack, immediately shoot it. Most of its attacks are avoidable by diving to either left or right. Continusly damage the creature until it retreats.
