Kevin Ryman was an officer of the Raccoon City Police Department. He possesses superior athletic abilities ^{[citation needed]} and is an outstanding marksman.^[2] An all-around good guy, he is a dyed-in-the-wool optimist who doesn't dwell on petty matters. Even though Kevin's very cheery, his quote above relates to the fact that he can be very impatient sometimes.

BiographyEdit

His happy-go-lucky personality occasionally worked against him (a contributing factor to his two failures in the S.T.A.R.S. selection process).^[3]

OutbreakEdit

On September 24 1998, the t-Virus that had plagued Raccoon City and its surrounding mountains for over four months finally reached critical levels. While at J's Bar with eight guests; Cindy Lennox the waitress and Will the bartender, the police became aware of the situation and prepared to evacuate civilians. A roadblock would be built up too late to stop Will from being mauled by a zombie, causing the occupants to flee before more arrived.

Several days later, Kevin reached the police department. With the majority of the force's officers either dead; infected or stranded elsewhere, he and two of the J's bar guests only had five fellow officers for company. Assisting with the evacuation of the police department, only he and Rita escaped. They drove away, determined to escape.

After RaccoonEdit

After the Raccoon City Incident, Kevin was seen talking to someone on a payphone at a Highway Gas Station. He says he has a fresh start with a new job in Miami and compliments the weather, saying it should be fun. He then jumps on his Motorbike and rides into the Horizon.^[4]

InventoryEdit

.45 Auto: Kevin's favorite handgun. Ammo is scarce, so it's advised to conserve it for boss battles. Pot shooting with this weapon is deadly.

.45 Auto Magazine (File #2 only): In File #2 , Kevin carries an additional .45 magazine with him.

Resident Evil: The Deck Building GameEdit

Kevin is a character in the second Resident Evil: DBG expansion, Outbreak. Kevin's Level 1 effect is that you can shuffle 1 "Samurai Edge" weapon from the resource area or from outside the game into your inventory. His Level 2 effect is during your turn, you can move 1 "Pistol" weapon in your Play Area to the top of your inventory. Kevin Has 80 Health. Like Chris Redfield, Josh Stone, and the second Jack Krauser card, Kevin's Level 1 effect costs 0 Decorations, making it automatic.

TriviaEdit

• Like Jim Chapman and Mark Wilkins, Kevin is one of the few characters that is not scripted to die during any of the scenarios in either game if he is not picked as a character or ally.
• In the Desperate Times scenario, Kevin can open his own locker and desk in the Raccoon City Police Department. None of the other characters, including Alyssa Ashcroft, can access Kevin's desk drawer or personal locker. Kevin can also find Leon S. Kennedy's resume in the R.P.D.'s east office.
• Depending on the difficulty, Kevin can acquire a Desert Eagle from his desk.
• After Rita leaves the station in the Desperate Times scenario, Tony, the K-9 handler, can be found dying in the station's kennel. He will only speak with Kevin, as he will already be dead if approached by another character.
• In The Hive scenario, Kevin can speak to the police officer on the roof and receive an item.
• Kevin bears resemblance to Hollywood icon, Tom Cruise.^[5]
• Because Kevin resembles Tom Cruise, Capcom edited his appearance before releasing Outbreak in North America to avoid any lawsuits.^[6]
• AI Kevin character will only use his Special Kick move when he's out of ammo.
• AI Kevin will always choose his own gun over other weapons unless the player requests him to use others but will change back to his gun some time later.
• As an AI, Kevin will be a chatty individual, talking to the player, making comments about the situation (making jokes about them as seen when the survivors discover the identity of the Leech Zombie). He will stay close to the player, rarely leaving the same room to explore on his own. Like Jim, they will curse at the zombies and other enemies when hurt and unlike most of the AI characters, he will go look for zombies to fight (which most cases are easy to avoid). He will race a player for items.
• Kevin is the fastest character, with fast running speed, fast attacking speed, but also moderately fast infection speed.
• After beating Desperate Times scenario with Kevin, He's the only player that will try to console Rita as she cries for leaving Marvin behind.
• After defeating Nyx in the End of the Road scenario, if the player chooses Kevin or Cindy as the player, and have the other as a partner, both will have an intimate ad lib conversation with Kevin asking Cindy what she will do now since she's out of a job.
