Kurt was a reporter and citizen of Raccoon City. He was friends with Alyssa Ashcroft.

When patients started dying frequently in the hospital outside the city, Kurt was determined to get to the truth. Frustrated by Umbrella's cover up and the inability of the police to do anything, Kurt took matters into his own hands and broke into the hospital. He was killed by the t-virus-infected Dorothy Lester.

Some time later, Alyssa was forced into the hospital while fleeing the viral outbreak in Raccoon City. She discovered evidence of the illegal experiments conducted there and vowed to escape the city alive and spread the truth about what happened, promising Kurt that his death wouldn't be in vain.
