Linda was an Umbrella Corporation researcher. She worked in the commercial Umbrella facility in Raccoon City (the only of several known to the public), along with Carter. During the outbreak of the T-Virus in the city, Linda returned to her laboratory to retrieve a sample of an experimental reagent, AT1521, to counteract the effects of the virus. Unfortunately, a fire had broken out in the building, cutting Linda, Carter, and the group of survivors, off from the exit, trapping them in with a group of vicious Hunters.

To protect the humans, Carter released the Tyrant stored in the lab and reprogrammed it to take on the Hunters. Linda was uneasy, but went along with the plan, which proved to have disastrous consequences. The Tyrant rebelled, killing Carter, destroying the reagent sample, and knocking Linda off of a catwalk. She was later discovered by the other survivors, alive, in the facility's waterworks, before being washed down the sewers. Despite this, she was able to make it all the way to the Apple Inn, where she was shot in the leg by a UBCS supervisor, Arnold, under supervision of Tommy. With the help of the same survivors from before, Linda managed to escape from Raccoon City shortly before it was destroyed during Mission Code XX. After the incident, she and Yoko Suzuki testified against Umbrella in court, contributing to its eventual downfall.
