Mac Dowell was a mercenary for the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service, who was sent into Raccoon City on September 26, 1998 with a number of colleagues to contain the viral outbreak. He is romantically involved with a citizen within Raccoon City named Mary.
Biography[]
On Tuesday 15 September.[1] the U.B.C.S. was mobilized to handle a viral outbreak in Raccoon City, which had been spreading for some time. By the time the U.B.C.S. arrived on Saturday 26 September, however, the water supply had already been contaminated and thousands of citizens had become Zombies. Dowell was in a squad led by Arnold, and survived the bloody first night.
Nothing is known of the squad until Friday 1 October, when they received orders to prevent a rogue U.S.S. Captain from escaping the city with a stolen experimental B.O.W. Dowell likely assisted in the laying of a mine field while Arnold oversaw developments from their camp on a highway overpass. When word got out that the US military was ready to destroy the city with an experimental thermobaric weapon, Arnold and his whole squad decided to simply abandon the city on the highway.
Gameplay[]
Mac's character skin can only be accessed through cheat devices such as a GameShark. He's a George-type character and starts with a Hemostat.
Mac's stats are as follows:
- Fast running speed.
- Average vitality (between 2000 and 2500).
- Attack power similar to that of George Hamilton.
- Infection rate of 1.09% per minute.
Further Notes[]
- Mac's girlfriend, Mary, is a Cindy-type and will follow him if he's controlled by the player and she's controlled by the AI, since George and Cindy character-types like each other.
- Mac is actually the first character in both Outbreak games' internal hex list. He occupies hexidecimal slot 01, the first slot with any real character data. It is also worth noting that because of this, he appears first on the NPC select for File #1 (since it's actually in Hexidecimal order) and first in File #2 when selecting George type NPCs. This includes the ingame models and higher poly cutscene models.
- Mac's cutscene and ingame models seem to be placeholder models as in the index for the higher poly models and ingame ones, empty slots have his model in place.
- Though Mac's body model is not seen in "End of the road", he is shown to be part of the Nyx creature, indicating he was part of Arnold's squad.
