Raccoon General Hospital

From Resident Evil Wiki

The hospital in Resident Evil 3.

The Raccoon General Hospital was located in the north of Raccoon City, close to the St. Michael Clock Tower and Raccoon Park.

The medical staff were ill-prepared with handling the T-virus outbreak, with many corpses in the mortuary reviving and attacking doctors. This was made worse when a colony of Leeches were infected, consuming the majority of the remaining staff.

Three civilians reached the Hospital around the 26th of September which, by the time they found another survivor, was already impossible to escape through the front door. A doctor, Hursh, was attacked by some of the leeches, which wrapped around him forming the "Leech Man." The Leech Man stalked the survivors until eventually killed in the fixed temperature laboratory.

The survivors then attempted to escape through the sewers, having to dispose of a Giant Leech before reaching safety.

Around the 26th, MA-121 Hunter β escaped from their containers and began hunting survivors and zombies within the Hospital's walls.

The hospital was later visited by U.B.C.S. member Carlos Oliveira on the 1st of October whilst looking for treatment against the T-virus, which had infected a survivor during her battle with Nemesis. At some point in time the hospital had become a staging area for the US Army's attempt to get a handle on the situation. However, it is safe to assume that this failed miserably due to the amount of corpses of fallen soldiers Carlos stumbles upon in the lobby of the hospital.

Fortunately for Oliveira, the hospital was, like many buildings in Raccoon City, a front for Umbrella and featured a small laboratory in the basement with a vaccine synthesising machine and a store of Gamma Hunter B.O.W.s. The hospital was destroyed not much later by U.B.C.S. operative and Supervisor, Nicholai Ginovaef in an attempt to kill Carlos and cover up his murder of fellow Supervisor Tyrell Patrick.
