Resident Evil: Survivor (Japanese: Biohazard: Gun Survivor) is set in the isolated city of Sheena Island around November 1998. This game is a major departure from the series, deviating from the third-person perspective of the previous games to a first-person view. The Japanese and PAL versions of the game allowed use of the Namco GunCon, a light gun that gave the game a more arcade feel. The American version did not allow the use of the GunCon, instead giving players a slower, more atmospheric gameplay experience.

[edit] Plot

The plot follows around an agent called Ark Thompson who was requested by Leon S. Kennedy to infiltrate an Umbrella facility. He managed to breach security in the Umbrella-controlled Sheena Island by impersonating the leader of the Umbrella facility, Vincent Goldman.

Goldman, after being told of Ark by a small boy, Lott Klein, causes an outbreak intentionally.

Goldman and Ark are fighting off of a helicopter, the helicopter goes down, Vincent is believed killed by falling from it, while Ark survives, but suffers Amnesia and believes he is Vincent.

[edit] Trivia

  • The game features branching paths that allow you to determine how the story will unfold and who you will meet along the way.
  • Resident Evil: Survivor is often cited as being far less challenging than any of its predecessors in the Resident Evil series; a seasoned "survivalist" can, on average, finish the game in an hour. This, combined with the distinctive difference in gameplay as opposed to its survival horror relatives, has lead to the game being ridiculed or simply ignored by the most 'die hard' fans of the Resident Evil franchise.
  • Although Resident Evil: Survivor (Biohazard: Gun Survivor) was only considered to be non-canon by fans; Sheena Island, the main setting of the game, is mentioned early in Resident Evil Zero's prologue as one of the places infected by the t-virus.
  • The Zombie models that were used in resident evil survivor were taken from Resident Evil 2.
