The SIG P228, dubbed the Handgun SG in Resident Evil Outbreak, is a semi-automatic pistol that was issued to Umbrella research facility employees. While it inflicted higher damage than a typical Handgun at closer range, it inflicted less damage at medium and long range. As well, it caused even less damage to G-Creatures.

This gun is incorrectly used in Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles as Carlos Oliveira's sidearm, while his sidearm was in fact a SIG Pro SP2009.
