It is advised to use the Grenade Launcher's acid rounds against them. Otherwise, use the shotgun whilst utilizing close quarter 'Meat shots' in order to maximize effective use of shotgun ammunition. Luckily, they will appear only a few times in the game, but be careful during encounters regardless ; the poison effect that they give can debilitate and kill very quickly.

Since you can't get poisoned in this game, the sweepers act just like the normal hunters. A boss in the game is a Giant Sweeper, that only do more damage.
