[edit] The Steyr TMP

First produced in 1993, the Steyr TMP [Tactical Machine Pistol] is a compact sub-machine gun chambered for the 9mm round. Designed to fill the role of a PDW (Personal Defense Weapon), the TMP is known for being lightweight, reliable, and easy to control. In 2001, Styer ceased production of the TMP amidst declining sales and sold the design to Brügger & Thomet of Switzerland. B&T then modified the original design, adding an integrated sight rail and a folding stock mounted to the lower frame, and currently markets the weapon under the MP9 designation.

[edit] TMP (Steyr Tactical Machine Pistol)

The TMP used by Leon and Ada with the stock attached on it (Ada does not have the stock mod)

The TMP is a weapon most useful when dealing with mass amounts Ganados attacking the player. It's fast fire rate allows the player to clear out all enemies in the area. The TMP's drawbacks are the power of the weapon, which is very weak, and the firing rate, which uses ammunition at a terribly high rate.

It can be bought from the Merchant for 10,000 pesetas. A stock can be equipped, reducing recoil and improving accuracy, for 4,000 pesetas. Without the stock mounted, the TMP is fired from the shooter's hip, resulting in poor accuracy, while the stock allows the shooter to shoulder the weapon, resulting in a noticeable increase in accuracy and making it easier to control the weapon's recoil. The stock also allows the player to aim over obstacles that would normally obstruct the TMP's fire when aiming from the hip. Ingame, the TMP fires a specialized 9mm round that is identifiable by its blue box.

The TMP takes up 6 spaces (3x2) of Leon's inventory. The stock takes up an additional 4 spaces (2x2).

To start, it has a firepower of 0.4, can fire every 0.10 seconds, takes 2.37 seconds to reload, and has a capacity of 30 rounds.

Fully upgraded, it does 1.2 damage, can fire every 0.10 seconds, takes 1.17 seconds to reload, and has a capacity of 250 rounds. The TMP costs 330,000 pesetas to fully upgrade (334,000 including the stock).

Its exclusive upgrade increases the firepower to 1.8.

The TMP used by HUNK and Krauser

In The Mercenaries minigame, HUNK carries a customized B&T MP9 (referred to as the Custom TMP ingame) which is identifiable by the signature folding stock mounted directly to the lower receiver, as opposed to being removable like the standard TMP's stock. HUNK has further modified this weapon by removing the muzzle break, replacing the standard foregrip and mounting an AN/PEQ laser unit to the right side of the weapon.

It has a firepower of 1.0, can fire every 0.10 seconds, takes 1.17 seconds to reload, and has a capacity of 100 rounds.

The Custom TMP uses TMP ammo and cannot be upgraded.

Krauser uses a similar TMP (although it lacks the stock on the MP9) during his fight against Leon.

[edit] Tactics

The TMP can be a dual purpose weapon.

It can be used to simply mow down a large group of enemies or it can live up to its name by stunning enemies allowing you to move in for a melee attack.

Besides being very effective when attacking groups of enemies, stun-'n-melee is a real easy way to save up on TMP ammo to sell off. Also, since the handguns are naturally stronger than the TMP, they quickly surpass the TMP as the choice for attacking single enemies. Therefore, along with the fact that TMP is in huge supply, you can use the TMP to pop off quick rounds to destroy locks, shoot birds nests, and other tasks that only require a single bullet, saving the more powerful handgun ammo for enemies.

[edit] Trivia

  • In The Umbrella Chronicles, HUNK uses the standard TMP, as opposed to his custom MP9, during the Fourth Survivor segment, as the MP9 was not produced until 2001.
  • In the latest trailer for The Darkside Chronicles, the TMP is seen in the hands of other U.S.S. members besides HUNK, indicating that it will replace the MP5 as the U.S.S. standard issue weapon[1].
