Vance "Twelve" Drew was a member of the U.B.C.S. team led by One that entered The Hive to shut down the Red Queen. He was in the NYPD before being recruited by Timothy Cain for the mission. He had a rigid military attitude that was mocked by Alice and Spence Parks. He and Alfonso Warner carried the equipment used to disable the Red Queen. When they entered the Red Queen's chamber and the laser defense was activated, Drew's hand was sliced off. He went into unconsciousness from a mixture of the loss of his hand and shock. Since Olga Danilova was killed by the Red Queen, he could not get medical attention and died. His death was one of the few events that caused One to "lose his cool".

He was originally supposed to have a role similar to that of Chad Kaplan (computer technician) but he was shrunken into a smaller part. His weapon of choice was originally supposed to be a grenade launcher as well. He was credited just as "Commando #1" in the movie but the novelization expanded on his past and gave him a name.
