[edit] Basic tips
[edit] Stomping/Punching
When an enemy is on the floor, position your character behind the enemy's head so you are facing down it's body, if you do it right the stomp should destroy the head completely. Same with Sheva's knife. Also, when doing an uppercut, try and work out the path your fist will follow, try to line it up with their head and it will once again destroy their head. If an enemy is on their knees, go behind them and you will get the opportunity for a Neck Breaker (Chris) or Throat Slit (Sheva). If Attack Reaction is turned on, some melee moves may knock down your partner. This is most likely with Sheva's Roundhouse kick.
[edit] Knife
When on co-op, time it so that you are swiping alternately so when one has just swiped the air and is recovering, the other will be attacking. This is only useful if either player is short on ammo. It is a good idea to use the knife infront of windows as you will have protection because you will be unreachable through it(Watch out for enemies who will jump out behind you though).
[edit] Pincer Movements
If a heavy shielded enemy is approaching, one player should act as bait while the other goes round the back to shoot. This is useful as it can conserve ammunition. Remember that you can attract enemies with the taunt.
[edit] Money Making
If you need money quickly, just repeat chapter 4-1 over and over. If you find the location of all the treasures you will get ₦47,000 plus whatever gold you pick up. If you collect everything this level can be done in under 20 minutes so in an hour you will have about ₦150,000! Useful for the Take it to the Max trophy. Alternative variant is to quit saving your character settings after killing the Popokarimu and getting the 10,000 gem. All the Popokarimu needs is a proximity mine and around 150 bullets from a VZ Skorpion in the belly, cheap even without infinite ammo.
You can get free treasures worth 11,000 gold and a RPG at the beginning of Chapter 3-1, "Marshlands". There is no need for any use of ammunition or trouble killing Majini. Go to the "Chapter Select" menu. Start Chapter 3-1 "Marshlands". Skip the cinematic if you do not want to waste time. Straight at the first dock, go to the vases. There should be a Ruby (Pear) on the mask (1,000 gold,)and a jewled beatle on the wooden post. Go straight to the center of the lake. There should be a Silver Chalice/Idol in the box of the hut (2,000 gold). Go northwest. There should be a half-sunken boat on your way there, with a RPG in the silver box on the deck. Go to the platform at the northwest. Along your way in, there should be a Beetle (Brown) on the fishing fence. At the platform, there should be a Silver Chalice/Idol in the box of the hut. Jump down into the pool. There should be another Beetle (Brown) at left ladder up. (all totaling 4,000 gold). Go up north of map. Go to the end of the village. Help your partner up the left tower to collect the Silver Chalice/Idol in the box (2,000 gold). Note: Do not take the key piece in the box on the right tower, it will trigger enemies to appear. Finally, go the southwest village with a long stream leading in. At the village, go straight to the center platform to open the box. You should get another Silver Chalice/Idol (2,000 gold). Note: Do not head elsewhere. Go directly to the box at the center platform. If you go towards to the other huts, it will trigger the Majini to appear. Save and quit the game. Sell the treasures worth 11,000 gold in your inventory. Sell the RPG for another 1,000 gold if you do not wish to keep it. Note: The trick is not to pick up any of the puzzle (key) pieces as this will trigger the enemies to appear. You can break as many vases and pots as desired and collect ammunition and gold bags, but do not pick up the key items. Do not bother to go to the east village to get the other Ruby (Pear), as you might be killed by the Crocs. If everything is done correctly, you will not encounter any enemies but get 11,000 gold worth of treasures and a free RPG.
In addition to the above mentioned information, there are more hidden treasures throughout the area. On the first area with the vases, there is a Brown Beetle on the tree to the left of the key piece. At the area in the center of the lake, there is a Brown Beetle on a post just left of the dock. Also, collect the eggs from the back right corner; they sell for 250 gold each and wait to see if any of the chickens lay eggs. On occasion they will lay a golden egg worth 1,000 gold. At the sunken ship to the northwest, there is also a beetle where the ship meets the water. In the area to the very north of the map, there is a ruby on a cow skull on a post near the first hut on the right. In the area following the long stream to the southwest of the map, there is ammunition skewered amongst the posts surrounding it. In addition, there is another beetle on the tree to the right on the way around to the back. If you have trouble finding the beetles, look for purple flowers growing on posts and trees. Also in the north area, there is an Emerald atop the cow skull perched above the sacrificial altar. You must shoot it down. With these additional treasures, it brings the total to between 20,000 to 23,000 gold per run and you will still not encounter any enemies as long as you follow the instructions mentioned in the previous tip.
Another great way is by going on chapter 1-2 and when you fight the Uroboros pick up the gold ring it drops and that it worth 5,000 gold coins, then after you pick it up quit the game and save your character settings and items then from the main menu pick continue and you will start off near the Uroboros so you can kill it again. Recommended you do this with a high powered weapon with infinite ammo for quicker kills. ATTENTION: If you kill the Uroboros by trapping it in the furnace it will NOT drop the ring. The ring would be melted instead.
One more great chapter for treasure is chapter 5-3 in treasure alone you earn 57,000 gold. All you need to do to get the heart of Africa from the Jill/Wesker fight is head to chapter 3-1 to pick up the launcher. It's easy and fun.
A quick and easy speed-run is chapter 5-1. With the infinite rocket launcher and an infinite shotgun or machine gun, the Licker betas are quickly killed, dropping 4 of their treasures a level. U-8 is easily killed on Veteran with shotgun blasts to his arm and two rockets (on veteran) into his mouth. This can be done in 5 minutes, yields 13,000 and when done on Veteran also give 2,000 points. Alternatively, if no such weapons are available, there is a Ruby (Square- 1000G) and a Jewel Beetle (2000G) right at the beginning, although this is a slow and ammo consuming method (the Ruby needs to be shot down).
The start of Chapter 2-1 is a yet another good level. While gold will only yield around 1000 (plus any in the crates) the amount of crates on the level (along with the MP5) can give a fair amount of ammo early in the game. Equip only the guns you want ammo for (and get the MP5 last unless you want machine gun ammo) and break open the crates. All the crates can be broken in around a minute.
A good way of making money is also to duplicate items, this is performed by doing the following (Note: 2 controllers or online play is required). Start any chapter and have player 2 join, make sure player two has the items you wish to duplicate. Give player one all items, then quit. Player 1 saves and player 2 don't save. Now both players have the items.
[edit] Close Quarters
Both players get really close so that when an enemy grabs you, the other can intervene immediately, the problem here is that enemies don't always just grab. They could shoot at you, or in fact melee attack, or just use a weapon.
[edit] Ammo Conservation
To conserve ammo Player 1 should use the stun rod(when it is available)and the AI using a handgun. Also it is useful to have a slightly powerful weapon in your inventory(because the stun rod is not good against special enemies for example chainsaw majini). The knife is always an effective tool if you are out of ammo, and it hits in a wide spread area.
[edit] Split Weapons
Balance out weapons for each person to have their own ammo supply. Player 1 should have a Pistol or Magnum and a Shotgun, Player 2 or the AI should have A Pistol or Rifle(if the other player already has a Pistol) and a SMG or Assault Rifle If you have access to the Minigun, try to buy one, it has infinite ammo so you can give all the ammo you find to Player 2 or the AI and sell the ammo you don't need.
To fully maximize the ammo you are given, try to specialize your charecters. For example, give sheva the rifle and the machine gun, and keep the shotgun and the handgun for chris. This way, you will have a ton of ammo for the handgun, for yourself, and a ton of machine gun ammo for sheva
[edit] Shooting Arms & Legs
If you are able to shoot the arms and legs of enemies, this will make them stumble or slump to the ground. During this time you can go up to them and perform a melee maneuver that will damage them and save you some ammunition, but beware, this leaves you vulnerable to attack.
[edit] Calling Enemies
By pressing both analogues in at the same time, you can attract the attention of enemies, this can be particularly useful if your ally has enemies going towards them, with the calling move, enemies will turn around and place their attention on to you. Always watch your back though during this.
[edit] Upgrading Your Weaponry
Upgrading your weapons is a must. With upgrading, you can make your weapons more powerful, hold more ammunition, and make the reload time shorter. A good idea is to save a little bit of your money for upgrading, so that you'll eventually fully upgrade a weapon, and still have some cash for essential supplies such as medical spray and the different vests. After fully upgrading a weapon and beating the game, you'll have the option to purchase infinite ammo for that weapon with the points you've earned. Fully upgrade your most used weapon first, so you can buy infinite ammo for that weapon. A good suggestion is to fully upgrade the M92F handgun early on, because even though it has the lowest firepower of all the handguns, it has an extremely high critical strike chance. In addition, after fully upgrading the M92F, the M93R handgun will be unlocked in the store for purchase. Upgrading weapons is a necessity in this game, and you won't be able to get very far without upgraded weaponry in Veteran or Professional difficulties.
[edit] Advanced Tips
[edit] Hot keying items
When organizing your inventory there are four hot keys you may use, the Center Top, Center Left, Center Right, and Center Bottom. These hot keys are used by pressing the corresponding direction on the D-Pad. This can be used to quickly switch between weapons, or ammo types to give to your partner.
This can also be used to drop special items quickly.
[edit] Fast reload
To bypass even the slowest reload times for your weaponry you can use the simple, yet most often over looked, inventory reloading.
To do this one should place ammo for the weapon that will be reloaded in a square next to the weapon before a game begins or moving ammo to the square next to the weapon during a lull in fighting. The next bit may take some getting used to but the pay off is worth it. When in need of a reload instead of doing the animation open your inventory and use either X (blue button) or the Square button to move the ammo to the square holding the weapon, doing this instantly reloads the weapon.
This trick is most useful during a ladder climb, getting back up after a hard hit, or any other animations that do not allow extra movement but do allow the inventory to be opened.
[edit] Secret weapons
There is one secret weapon for each weapon type, and two specials for Sheva and Chris. Sheva's special is the Longbow, to get it you need to fully upgrade the S75 . The longbow is a one hit kill for most enemies but has no aiming laser. The special for Chris is the Gatling-gun, it has very low accuracy but unlimited ammo, to get it you need a fully upgraded Skorpion and have completed the game. The special for shotguns is the Hydra, it is a triple barreled shotgun with a max capacity of 15. You also need a fully upgraded Ithaca.
