Brad Vickers has made a number of appearances in the Resident Evil franchise, though all are small roles. Unlike other characters, his design is based on his original Resident Evil artwork.

Visual evolution[]

Resident Evil (1996)[]

RE1BradConceptArtwork

Brad's finalized artwork for the first Resident Evil.

Brad was among the very first of the S.T.A.R.S. members to have his design revealed at V Jump Festival '95. He was also one of three S.T.A.R.S. members shown to not be a main character, alongside Joseph Frost and Kenneth J. Sullivan.

This early design for Brad differed slightly to how his finalized artwork would turn out. He wears the standard white T-shirt with a placeholder logo on the left sleeve, as the logo likely wasn't finalized yet. Over his shirt he wears a dark yellow flak vest with a high collar. His combat pants feature a dark Woodland-style camo (similar to Joseph, although their camo is distinctly different), he wears a black belt in them with a small ammo pouch, and his combat boots also feature a unique color, unlike most of the others that wear plain black ones. His appear to be either a light brown or a light green variant. Noticeably, Brad is depicted as very pale, being the least muscular of the entire S.T.A.R.S., instead appearing to be very thin. He has dark brown hair which appears to be either slightly curled or wavy in texture. One thing that stands out with Brad's design, is that he doesn't wear any kind of gloves like all other S.T.A.R.S. members do. Presumably, this is due to his role as pilot.

Brad retains most of these visuals in his final design, though his shirt now appears to have the finalized logo. He also looks to be less skinny, and a lot more tan. His hairstyle was also altered to be more of slicked-back style, rather than just wavy hair. His ammo pouch is now the same green as his camo pants, and the same brown/green is also seen in part of his boots. Brad's artwork also depicts him holding a dark green flight helmet.

Resident Evil 2 (1998)[]

Zombie Brad Model

Brad's first 3D appearance, as a zombie.

In Resident Evil 2, Brad gets a 3D model for the very first time, as he was among the few members to never receive one in the original Resident Evil. He can be encountered as a zombie as part of an easter egg. His model (ignoring the obvious wounds to his body.) appears almost identical to his artwork for the first game. The only notable difference is that this model doesn't include Brad's ammo pouch.

Like all other S.T.A.R.S. operators (sans Rebecca), Brad is also shown in a group picture that can be found in the RPD. In this picture, Brad notably is shown in dark grey cargo pants and black boots, not in his camo variants he's normally shown in.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis[]

Starting slightly before the events of the previous game, Brad makes his first living on-screen appearance. Brad now sports a completely different model, although it's still very faithful to his depiction in the first game's artwork. This new model now also includes the previously-absent ammo pouch. However, this model has one strange quirk; for some reason, Brad is shown with the S.T.A.R.S. logo on both his sleeves, rather than just the left one, as he has been in the past and is the norm.

This quirk is also present in his cutscene model. This CG model also looks quite a bit paler from his in-game one, as well as having a more narrow face. The CG model also seems to show Brad with prominent front teeth, something that hasn't been shown or hinted at before or after.

Resident Evil (2002)[]

Barry in RE Jill Best Ending

Brad's cameo in the remake.

Very similar to his appearance in the original game, Brad is never shown in-game. However, he can be seen piloting the rescue chopper in Jill's best ending. While not much visual changes can be noted, it's clear that he still wears a yellow flak jacket with a white S.T.A.R.S. T-shirt underneath. He's also shown wearing his flight helmet for the first time. Due to his back not being entirely visible, it's unclear if Brad now also possesses the full name of the Special Tactics and Rescue Service on his back, like his colleagues.

Resident Evil 2 (2019)[]

Brad

The easter egg poster which first shows Brad's reimagined design.

Once again, like his original appearance, Brad only shows up in the form of an easter egg in this game. While he doesn't appear as a zombie, he can now be seen on a recruitment poster for the S.T.A.R.S. in Raccoon City. This is also the first glimpse of his modern redesign. He still retains his white shirt and yellow flak jacket, although it is now shown with a lot more details than previously. Other team members had these changes done with the first game's remake, but they were never seen on Brad at any point before. One new detail that has never been seen on anyone else, though, is that his flak jacket now has the initials "R.P.D." present on his left breast. The poster also shows him with a very similar green flight helmet, and appears to also show the top of his camo pants.

While his clothes didn't change much, Brad himself did. While he was previously depicted as either very skinny or slightly muscular, he now looks more heavyset. He retains his slight tan and dark brown hair, but his hair is now done up in a spiky fashion, rather than the slicked-back look of the past. Brad now also has some stubble, as well as a visible cleft chin.

Resident Evil 3[]

RE3 remake CONCEPT ART - Supporting Cast

Concept artwork for the game's supporting cast, including Brad.

Much of Brad's appearance remains the same as in the previous entry, although now his bottom half is also shown. His camouflage pattern is a lot less vibrant, and now mostly consists of washed-out greens. As a result, the same green also appears on his combat boots. He's also shown to possess a pair of white gloves, always present in the back pocket of his pants. His back now shows the full Special Tactics and Rescue Service lettering, but in a different font than how it appeared in the first game's remake. This new font is also used on the aforementioned recruitment poster in the previous game.

Concept art of the game shows that there were some more changes possible planned at one point for Brad. The artwork shows him with a square jawline and a fuller beard. His hair appears shorter and lighter, and his pants appear to just be dark green, rather than camouflaged. Most notably is that he is now shown wearing knee pads. The artwork incorrectly depicts his S.T.A.R.S. insignia as being on his right shoulder.

For some reason, the new model also brings over the same logo quirk as his original Resident Evil 3 model did, as Brad is now shown having the insignia on both of his shoulders, rather than just on his left. Additionally, both insignias appear very tiny, unlike previous models and artworks where the logo is always shown to be quite noticeable on one's shoulder.
