(Covers information from the S.D. Perry novels)
Caliban Cove was a small coastal town in Maine, largely supported by the fishing industry. Though named after the cove immediately to the south, it played little role in the local industry at the end of the 20th century, being made private land in the early 1990s. In 1998 it was the site of a viral outbreak involving the Umbrella Corporation.
In the early 1990s, Umbrella anonymously purchased the cove, constructing an underground complex below the lighthouse which could be entered via caves. This area, fenced off, was used for B.O.W. testing, and led to the deaths of four fishermen who had strayed into the bay.
