The Capcom RE2 Sweepstakes Contest was a competition held in the United States with the offered prize being a part in the upcoming movie.
History
Since giving a film license to Constantin Film in late 1996, Capcom had hoped for filming of a feature-length Resident Evil movie to begin by 1998. To market its production, American PlayStation copies of Resident Evil 2 came with a gold star on the front cover offering players the chance to win. Contestants were instructed to write their names and addresses on 3x5 cards supplied in the manual and send them to a Capcom office before the end date of 1 April 1998. Contestants would be placed in a lottery and the winner would get the film part, with runners up getting the chance for other prizes. However, due to the delayed nature of the film production, the winner is unlikely to have actually appeared in the film.
