The dining hall (食堂 Shokudō?)[1] plays host to one of Salazar's traps.

Description[]

A proper eating table can be seen here with a complete set of plates along with spoon and forks. A treasure chest sits behind a locked door that can only be reached by finishing a puzzle.

Guide[]

Main Game[]

To unlock the door, ring the bell on the far end of the room and shoot the bottle. It will shatter and the door will open. Upon nearing the chest a cage will fall around Leon with two doors locked by thick padlocks. A Garrador will spawn in the cage along with a wave of continuously spawning Cultists. A few Cultists will also spawn outside the cage, able to hit Leon with their mace if he gets to close. A crossbow wielding cultist will also spawn, shooting when line of sight exists. The locks on the gates can be safely destroyed with a Hand Grenade. If not it is best to first kill the Garrador before attempting to escape, as he will easily attack during an escape attempt in such close quarters. The Hourglass w/ Gold Decor can be obtained from the chest at any time.

There is also a door in the area that leads to a previously inaccessible room in the Western castle wall where many items can be found.

Separate Ways[]

Since the door to the extra room in the western castle wall is not locked, the area can be entered from two directions. The dining area is populated with Cultists, some with bows and one masked, red robed cultists in the hallway leading to the Western castle wall.

When entering the room with the chest the cage will fall on Ada in the same way it does Leon, locked with thick padlocks and a Garrador and stream of enemies spawning inside. The same strategy should be used here, either breaking a padlock with the TMP or first killing the Garrador. Once the conflict has ended the chest in the center should be examined to find a hidden compartment under the false bottom. The Hourglass w/ Gold Decor must be placed in the indentation for the door to the Gallery to open.

Separate Ways[]

Location Action Localization Original script
The sign across the door to the Garden CHECK "A dessert to cherish our remaining years" I'll admit dessert sounds good right now.
The next sign down CHECK "Bread begins the meal of life" What could this mean?
The next sign CHECK "Meat to savor the time at hand" Meat? What is this all about?
The large sign CHECK "One last drink and the bottle breaks, returning us to the dust from whence we came" What a depressing thought.
The iron bars CHECK Those bars are blocking the door. That empty treasure chest still bugs me.
The chest CHECK (view chest) Why is this empty chest sitting here? Maybe I should take a closer look. (view hidden space) There is an indentation at the bottom.
The chest after revealing the hidden space CHECK The is an indentation at the bottom.

Further Notes[]

  • A graphical glitch can be found by standing against the counter on the table side. A hole in the wall gives a clear view of the cage area, although on the other side a wall is blocking this hole.
