"All things have a purpose. There's a reason for everything. That's what they say, isn't it? But I can't accept that. There's no way I can think of this as a happy ending."

Cindy Lennox is an American survivor of the 1998 Raccoon City Destruction Incident. Though trained as a waitress at Jack's Bar, Lennox's familiarity with first aid helped her survive the following week before her eventual escape on the morning of Thursday 1 October.

Biography[]

From May 1998, Raccoon City was hit by a series of outbreaks of t-Virus, a military bioweapon engineered by the Umbrella Corporation which caused the "Cannibal Disease". As the outbreak worsened, plans were drawn up on Thursday, September 24th to prepare for a mass evacuation of the city, but this was too late as the water supply had already been contaminated. Lennox went to work as usual that day with her co-worker, Will. As violence escalated into rioting, the Raccoon Police Department began sealing off entire blocks of the city and evacuating people to the Raccoon Police Station. The bar was soon besieged by Zombie rioters, forcing the bar's occupants to escape by another route.[2] During this escape, the occupants went their separate ways.

Later in the night, Lennox is known to have made her way to Raccoon Zoo for unknown reason only to find a notice on a nearby map bulletin from the late Raymond Douglas whom had been killed earlier that night stating that the US military was using the zoo's front gate tram terminal as a rendezvous point for evacuating refugees.[3] With the chance of rescue at hand, Lennox and two other survivors ventured into the zoo only to be accosted by the now infected, and mutated attractions. Eventually escaping the zoo, Lennox and her fellow survivors hitched a ride on the tram near the zoo's front gate to reach the rendezvous point, only for the tram to come to a screeching halt, as the Chinook which was to pick them up crashed into the ground after being overwhelmed by an infected that somehow got on board[4], leaving Cindy's current chance of rescue quite literally up in flames.

How Lennox escaped the city is uncertain, though there are a number of ways this could have been accomplished. What is known is that she was considering a new career as a nurse due to the skills she picked up in the outbreak, and is settled in a new house elsewhere in the United States.[5]
