Derek was an operative of the Umbrella Security Service and may have belonged to the U.S.S. Alpha Team, who infiltrated the Raccoon City Underground Laboratory in September 1998.
His vest is damaged as if he was stabbed, making it more evident that he was the U.S.S. agent that was stabbed by the mutated William Birkin and was left for dead, being left to an ultimate fate of being eaten alive by Rats.
Gameplay
Derek's character skin can only be accessed through cheat devices such as GameSharks. He's a Jim-type character and starts with an Iron Pipe while in the Danger status.
Derek has the following stats:
- Slow movement speed similar to that of Jim
- Unusually high vitality for a Jim type. Between 2600 and 3000
- An attack power similar to that of George Hamilton
- High infection rate of 1.69% per minute
Further Notes
- Remarking he starts the scenarios in a Danger status, it's presumed that he died during the Raccoon City Destruction Incident, since most deceased NPCs (Bob, Frank, Hersh) start in the danger condition.
- He is called U.S.S. 2 in file 1.
