Pupa is the twenty-seventh chapter in the Resident Evil: The Marhawa Desire manga series. It was first published in Weekly Shōnen Champion Extra's 2013 series, but was later on re-published in the fourth tankōbon volume on May 8.
Plot[]
Experiencing Bindi Bergara's further mutation in person, Merah Biji understands Dr. Doug Wright's suspicions this is an entirely new virus at work, and not simply a t-Virus strain. Biji fires repeatedly at Bergara, using up the last of her ammunition as she approaches once more. Another point-blank range gunshot to the head sends her falling to the ground. Biji fires a round upwards through her neck. Out of ammunition, she takes out her kukri to finish the job, but is grabbed by the Ruka-Khvatanje arm and squeezed. Biji is able, nonetheless, to slash the chest with her kukri, forcing Bergara to loosen her grip. Bergara becomes suspicious about Biji's switch to the kukri, and Biji confirms it is because she has no ammunition left, but is perfectly happy to use it, pointing out that her chest wound has not yet healed.
The two fight once more, with Bergara swinging her arm and Biji slashing her with her kukri. Biji does not need to commit to a single powerful attack as Bergara does, and just needs to cause enough cuts to weaken her opponent. She also recognises Bergara has no actual fighting experience and is very predictable, which should give her the advantage. Changing her tactics at the last second, Biji forces both her hands onto the kukri handle to severe the Ruka-Khvatanje arm. Now greatly injured, the C-Virus in Bergara's body activates a totally new set of mutations, and she grows a Chrysalid.
