The Eurocopter AS350B is a single-engine light helicopter originally designed and manufactured in France by Aérospatiale. It is a variant of their AS350 Écureuil model, which has been in production since 1975.
An AS350B, designated N21RA, was in the possession of the Raccoon City Police Department in 1998. It crashed into the police department building in September 1998 when its pilot was hit by stray bullets. This may have been the same helicopter shown formerly used by S.T.A.R.S., who were photographed in front of an AS350B some time after their founding. On October 1 of the same year, S.T.A.R.S. officer Barry Burton flew an AS350B into Raccoon City in search of fellow officer Jill Valentine, who he succeeded in rescuing.
The AS350B was frequently used by the Umbrella Corporation.
