The eye is a popular image depicted in the Resident Evil franchise. It has been frequently used as a background for start menus, and is usually the eye of a monster.
Usages
In the original Resident Evil, the eye used on the menu was Chris Redfield's. Tying into the pre-game sequence, he is attacked by a monster and the camera freezes on his stare. In Resident Evil 2, the eye is instead William Birkin's, taken from a cutscene at the end of the "B" path. Resident Evil Outbreak and Resident Evil Outbreak File #2 use more generic human eyes looking out to the player. Promotional material for Resident Evil: Revelations and Resident Evil: Revelations 2 also use eyes staring out to the audience. In these two cases they are from some unseen enemy.
