Fear You Can't Forget is a series of live-action short films directed by German music video and commercial director Marcus Nispel. They were released sequentially on residentevil.com as part of the Resident Evil 5 promotional campaign, with each subsequent episode unlocking after reaching a viewer threshold.

Production[]

"Its a whole new economy. They had to do six three min pieces of content in two days that where supposed to look as if they where lifted from one of my feature films. I went with digital video and by doing so. bought them a third day. Now I want to shoot my next movie digital."
— Nispel, reflecting on the series.

Capcom approached the MJZ company sometime in 2008, seeking a promotional campaign for Resident Evil 5. Nispel was brought in as director, having previously directed the popular "Regenerate" ad for Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Nispel was expected to direct the series in a theatrical manner, as though each short was a snippet from a larger movie. A script was written by Capcom's Japanese team, as confirmed by former Capcom USA Vice President Christian Svensson, though how much was changed in localisation is not known.[1]

The principal theme of the series was to deal with BSAA operator Chris Redfield and his problems dealing with posttraumatic stress disorder following his deployment to Kijuju.[2] The actors were hired through the Ayzenberg casting agency, and included Will Lupardus in the role of Chris Redfield, Naja Hill as Sheva Alomar and Rebekah James as Claire Redfield.
