Doug Wright was a Professor of Microbiology at Singapore's Bennett University. Due to his credentials, he was made an advisor to the BSAA's Far East branch.[3]
Biography[]
Early life[]
When Ricky Tozawa's parents died, Doug Wright was there to take Ricky in, and had since become Ricky's father figure. He also had a relationship with Mother Gracia, though they broke up for unknown reasons. At some point, Doug Wright was present at the US Central Market when the BSAA conducted a cleanup operation. There, he met Chris Redfield and was impressed by Chris' abilities.
Around 2009, he met Merah Biji at the BSAA Far-East Branch. Doug was impressed by her skills, professing confidence in giving her a chance. A year later, his confidence seemed to have paid off, as Merah was number one in her competition, something which brought Doug pride.
Marhawa[]
While teaching at Bennett University, Doug receives a letter from Mother Gracia reporting of a biohazard case. Going to Marhawa School, he is shown to the zombified Ra-Na Bae and immediately concludes that the t-Virus is the cause of this outbreak. Although wanting to notify the BSAA immediately, Gracia's adamant refusal prevents Doug from contacting his friend, Chris Redfield. Later that night, Doug reaches Ricky's room, where he is attacked by an infected Alisa Lin. Discovering that Ricky was bitten, Doug shows concern for his injured nephew and that another student had turned into a zombie. The next day, however, Ricky makes a full recovery, though suspicious, is not questioned by Doug. Later, another biohazard case is reported to the both of them and they investigate the scene with Marhawa school security, Ray Hsu and Tahir Kapoor, who provide the team with weapons. Bindi Bergara also assisted them with a crossbow. While all the zombies are killed, a dying worker tells Doug that a mysterious gas enveloped the workers, which eventually caused them to turn into zombies. As Ray is attacked by another zombie, and is subsequently killed, Doug concludes that the virus being used is likely an unknown strain, and takes samples to submit back to the BSAA.
Growing more frustrated by Gracia's refusal to talk with the BSAA, Doug attempts to persuade her again, but is attacked by her security guards. His attempt to escape with Ricky is then thwarted when their vehicle is destroyed by Gracia. Nonetheless, after two students turn into zombies during a school festival, Gracia finally relents to reveal more information to Ricky and Doug. Taking them to the area where Nanan Yoshihara, Bindi's close friend, fell and died after also attempting to escape, Doug offers to help Gracia make amends after the disaster once the truth comes out to the public. On that night, however, Doug, Tahir and Ricky confront Bindi and a mutated Nanan, who proceeds to impale Doug and zombify Tahir. Seriously wounded, he is taken to the medication room, during which Bindi and Nanan infect the entire academy with the mysterious virus. Unable to move, Doug is found by Nanan, who he thinks is Ricky until the final moment, when she infects him with a gas-filled kiss.
He is eventually found by Ricky, and Chris Redfield, who went into the academy to search for Doug and Ricky. By then, they see that he is clearly infected and can no longer be saved. Chris immobilizes him from behind and prepares to shoot him, though Ricky interrupts having decided to put his uncle down himself.
BSAA reinforcements later arrived to clear the school of any remaining zombies and also recovered Doug's body. Doug was later buried next to Gracia. At some point Ricky visited both their graves, bringing flowers to pay tribute.
