Austin Taylor was a watchman at the Raccoon Zoo. His job was to handle dangerous animals and difficult tasks regarding the day-to-day operation of the zoo.
Background[]
Austin had a problematic career at the Raccoon Zoo. Though he was recognised as a good hunter, his refusal to part from his hunting rifle when on the observation deck was a matter of concern for the management.[1] On Wednesday 23 September 1998, the t-Virus contaminated Raccoon City's water supply. The animals mutated and escaped the following day, and Austin was left stranded on the observation deck.
Gameplay[]
Austin is unlocked as playable by talking to his NPC on HARD or VERY HARD, and then talking to either Patrick in the Elephant Stage area and/or Lloyd in the zoo's Inner office. The player does not have to beat the scenario to unlock him, but has to fulfill the above requirements of talking to Austin before the other two. As an NPC, Austin only appears on the harder difficulties of wild things - he will not be encountered on the EASY and NORMAL. After fulfilling the requirements, he can be purchased in the Collection menu for 4000 points.
