Heckler & Koch G36

The G36 is a 5.56×45mm assault rifle, designed in the early 1990s by Heckler & Koch in Germany as a replacement for the heavier 7.62mm G3 battle rifle. It was accepted into service with the Bundeswehr in 1997, replacing the G3. The G36 is gas-operated and feeds from a 30-round detachable box magazine or 100-round C-Mag drum magazine.

In Resident Evil

G36K

Several members of the Sanitation team use G36Ks when entering The Hive. Salinas uses a G36K that has had the stock removed and is outfitted with a laser system at the front of the carry handle. One uses a similar weapon, but with the addition of a Heckler & Koch AG36 Grenade Launcher. The Red Queen misidentifies Rain's MP5K as a G36 with "dual clips."

One uses an AG36 mounted to his G36K. It is notable that One never uses the G36Ks pistol grip, instead preferring to hold the gun by the grenade launcher's grip, a very unsound tactic. It can be assumed that since it was destroyed when the laser tunnel attacked One and the others when they were trapped inside. A promotional image shows Alice holding one by the pistol-grip of the launcher itself in one hand with a .45 caliber pistol in the other. This grenade launcher may be equivalent to that of Colt.

G36C

In Resident Evil: Apocalypse, many members of S.T.A.R.S. are also seen with the compact G36C during the entire clearing of Raccoon City. In Resident Evil: Retribution, Luther West infiltrates Umbrella Prime with a G36.
