In Resident Evil 2 the G Adult (G成体,G Seitai?) has a health value of 600 points,[1] relative to the player maximum of 200 hp.[2] The G Young (G幼体,G Yōtai?) meanwhile have a health value of only 1–2.[1]
G Adult has a very slow movement and attack speed, tied with the Ivy creatures for the slowest enemy in the game.
G Adult has no grab move. Combined with the aforementioned speed, this makes it very safe to attack with the knife, even more so than zombies.
G Adult's scratch attack has a very slow wind-up time but has very good tracking. Once the attack starts, G Adult can perform an almost 180 degree swiping movement that can tracks a player who tries to circling it from the front all the way to the back.
G Adult can perform a quick-turn provided the player is standing behind it. There are two variations of this: One where the G Adult simply turns towards the player, and another where G Adult initiates the claw swipe attack first, then spins towards the player. One must either back off or circle around the G Adult at the opposite side of its dominant arm, to avoid taking damage.
G Adult can vomit several G Youngs to help assist it against the player. There is a maximum number that G Young can exists in a room, from 3 to 6 depending on the difficulties. If the maximum number is reached or more already existed in a room (typically seen in mods, engine hack or via Extreme Battle randomization) G Adult will not generate more G Youngs until their numbers have been reduced below the threshold.
G Adult is actually weak to the knife and has a special animation associated with it. When repeatedly hit by the knife, its dominant arm will be violently severed, forcing the G Adult to fall down, unable to support its own weight. It takes several seconds to regenerate a new one. During the regeneration, the G Adult will be completely defenseless, allowing the player to attack with impunity.
Below is a weapon chart detailing how powerful certain weapons can be against the G Adult. Bracketed numbers refer to how many shots are needed to defeat the creature.
G Adult makes a return in the remake version of Resident Evil 2 and in greater numbers than before. Due to the omission of Giant Spiders, multiple G Adults now appears as a stand-in for them and their status has been relegated to that of an elite enemy instead of a unique boss.
G Adult's giant eyeball on the side of their torso has been moved to their left shoulder and now served as their weak spot. These eyeballs have substantially less HP than its owner and successfully bursting it will instantly defeats a G Adult. However, due to their imperfection, G Adult can appears in one of these three variants:
The 'classic' form, in which the eyeballs are already visible.
The 'armored' form, in which their eyeballs are first encased in thick flesh and must be destroyed first in order to reveal its weak spot.
The 'evolving' form, similar to the armored form. But upon destroying its armored flesh, another layer of compound eyeballs still in the process of formation will be found in place of the weak spot and must be destroyed again to reveal the real one. This is the most durable variant of the three.
G Adult, like their classic counterpart, are slow to move and even slower to attack. But all of their encounters in the main game are taking place in a waist deep water, where the player's speed are reduced while G Adults gained several abilities such as ambushing from the murky sewage water and rapid swimming grab which makes them deceptively fast.
G Adult's main form of attack is now a large grab instead of a claw swipe. Once grabbed, the G Adult will split open its head vertically, revealing an elongated feeding proboscis that will latch onto the player's face before force-feed them its infected body fluid. This attack has a high chance of inflicting poison status. Due to the size of a G Adult, the player cannot rapidly press buttons to struggling and break off mid-attack, which means full damage is guarantee.
Like all grab attacks, this attack can be resisted with any sub weapons. The most effective one is still the hand grenade, in which the player will shove it directly into the proboscis which will then automatically explode a moments later without the need to shoot at the grenade like in Zombie's case.
From afar, G Adult will begins vomiting 3 to 4 G larvae that will quickly scurry towards the player. This iteration of G larva operates in an entirely different manners from their classic counterpart, opting to sacrifice itself in an acidic explosion once getting in range rather than make a nuisance of themselves by latching on the player and biting. G larva dies in one hit from any weapon while G Adult can be easily stagger out of this attack by shooting its head or its proboscis mid-vomit, saving the player from having to shoot down all G larvae that spawned.
From afar, G Adult may elected to quickly swims towards the player with both arms stretched out. This attack has a mild tracking ability to both left and right and getting hit by this results in a grab. One way to avoid this attack is to steer clear of it entirely by finding some alcove to retreat to as G adult will swim all the way until it hits a wall. Another way is to stagger it with powerful weapons, One or two Magnum shot or Grenade Launcher loaded with Acid rounds will usually do it.
If the player are able to successfully move up the high ground. Any pursuing G Adults will quickly diving down the murky sewage water, teleporting away and effectively 'resets' their position.
