Further notes

The Hunter β is overall quite similar in its attack-style to its α counterpart. In at least the Japanese BIOHAZARD 3 LAST ESCAPE, this Hunter has 72-120 hp in the "LIGHT" version, and 59–99 in "HEAVY".[1]

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis []

Moveset[]

The following moves and stats are derived from the BIOHAZARD 3 LAST ESCAPE OFFICIAL GUIDEBOOK.[1]

Move Damage Description
Claw (ツメ Tsume?) 15 Hunter swipe its prey with its elongated left claw. Since this is a close-range attack, it is hard to avoid.[excerpt 1]
Jump claw (跳びツメ Tobi tsume?) 25 The Hunter jumps up to attack the player, swiping in mid-air on the way down.[excerpt 2]
首斬り (Kubikiri?)[note 1] Instant death or 25 Finishing movie. Hunter decapitates injured player. The attack is not performed if the player is in FINE status.[note 2]
  1. "Kubikiri" is a Japanese word referring to the act of decapitation with some level of justification (such as the completion of Seppuku); a close proximity to "Beheading".
  2. In some versions of the game, the individual's head can be seen impaled on the claw. This is due to certain regions censoring decapitation.

Due to the Hunter's speed, it is recommended that those who encounter the B.O.W. keep to a distance. The Grenade Launcher is ineffective against the creature, while the Shotgun is best to be avoided due to the firing rate. Ignoring the firing rate, it is powerful enough to finish the enemy in a few blows, though Health items may be required at close-range. The Magnum is super-effective against the Hunter at any range, and a single bullet should be enough to defeat it.

Resident Evil 3 (2020)[]

The Hunter β is a formidable adversary in the 2020 remake. First encountered after Carlos Oliveira has acquired the ID Card in Spencer Memorial Hospital, it now boasts face mandibles and significant armour which makes inflicting damage difficult. It is also moves quickly and it's movement can be unpredictable. It can dodge to the side when aimed at and can quickly close in. Similar to its other incarnations, the hunter attacks by swiping with its claws and is capable of inflicting instant death by slitting the player character's throat. The attack is telegraphed by the hunter reeling its arm back before pouncing; the attack can be interrupted by staggering the hunter, countering with Oliveira's punch counter or dodged outright with Jill's emergency evade.

Its heavy armour can be cracked and shattered if gunfire is focused on its face, at which point it will be vulnerable and damage can easily stagger the bioweapon. The most effective weapon against hunters are hand grenades which will often kill them immediately if caught directly, however, on higher difficulties they may not go down with one grenade. Flash grenades will momentarily stun them, but they can still hit Jill or Carlos if they are close. Other explosives such as grenade rounds will quickly falter them, and two well placed rounds can kill a pair.

On the Hardcore difficulty and below a single acid round is capable of killing a Hunter. When hit with an acid round a Hunter β will be stunned for a few seconds and then die. On higher difficulties such as Nightmare and Inferno a single acid round will only lower their health by a considerable amount and briefly stun them. When they are stunned it is best to run away or finish them off as they are most vulnerable when not moving.
