Norse Chirac is a former British soldier who found himself involved in the Biohazard outbreak on Gadiwell Island.[1]

Biography[]

Solitary Far North Island[]

Chirac served in the Counter Revolutionary Warfare (CRW) wing of the Special Air Service, and saw deployment during The Troubles in Northern Ireland. During an operation to free UN workers held hostage by an IRA faction, Chirac's failure to kill a child volunteer allowed her to set off an explosive which killed herself, the rest of the squad, and the UN workers. As a result of this, Chirac was held responsible for the disaster and was discharged from the British Army.[2]

For the next two years, he traveled the world in search of a safe haven to live. One day he decided to take a ferry to Gadiwell, a small fishing village on an island just off the coast of Norway. When a wave collided with the ship, Norse witnessed a girl in a yellow parka stumble on the handrail. Norse stopped her from falling into the sea and the two got their footing back once the ferry regained its original stability. The girl then introduced herself as Kate, a student traveling to the island with her friend Rain Rubens, whose Uncle lives on the island. Afterwards Norse returned to his cabin, leaving the two girls chattering on deck while he awaited the ferry's arrival to the island.

When they arrived, Norse found the island to be quiet while the locals acted strangely, stalking the new arrivals from the woods, watching them from gaps between swaying curtains, and from behind slightly opened doors. He and the girls eventually arrived at Rain's uncle house, but found the front door to be locked with a huge lock. Thinking that her uncle was down drinking at Robert's shop, the only pub in the village, Rain suggests that they head for the shop and the trio left for it as evening fell.

They entered the shop only to find the native islanders scared with pale, ominous colors on their faces. Rain asked Robert if he had seen her uncle, but he responded that he hadn't seen her uncle for the past four to five days and suggested he might have gone hunting. Having no leads to her uncle's whereabouts the two girls then lead Norse to where an inn was supposed to stand, but they were shocked to find only a vacant lot where the inn should have been. A thud from behind caused them to turn around and see a young man who Norse noted was one watchers he had seen when they arrived on the island. Rain recognized the man as her childhood friend Paul and asked if he had seen her uncle Bale but he sidestepped the question and instead warned them to leave the island the following day and lock themselves up when they sleep tonight. He then started to walk away leaving Rain dumbfounded. Before Paul got out of sight, Norse spotted a small handgun under Paul's jacket, thrust casually into the belt on his waist, and realized what Paul said wasn't a threat or joke. The three then reluctantly returned to Bale's house.

Once their Norse unlocked the door to the house with a lock pick he made from scrap and the group entered the house only to find no clues regarding Bale. After Norse helped the girl settle in, he then picked up his luggage and walks towards the entrance, intending to find another place to rest. Kate however insisted Norse stay, and pressed by the two and unable to disregard these strange events, he changed his mind and decided to stay with them. That night, he heard footsteps approach the house before slowly walking away from it, and in response he grabbed a piece of firewood for protection and followed the sound. Eventually, he found footprints and followed them to see a wailing woman situated on a hill deep in the forest who quickly disappeared.

The next morning, Norse awoke from his troubled sleep and quickly headed for the entrance of the forest once more only to find no sign of the footprints or the woman from before which raises his suspicions. He then quickly headed back to the house and along the way noticed a crowd of islanders had gathered. They told him that they were concerned because three workers went out to repair the road yesterday but failed to come back in the morning, a tale which disturbs Norse. He later met Rain, who informed him that Kate was missing. They looked for her in the place where the workers had disappeared on a hunch and spot Kate sitting on a stone along the side of the road leading to the headland. She informed them that she went to see the location of a movie being filmed while they were still asleep but got confused regarding the way back and instead decided to stay put. While the girls are chattering, Norse notices strange behavior among the filmmakers with them acting more like military subordinates instead of a film crew, and seeming to take orders from a well dressed blonde actor.

The trio then resume their search for Bale and headed to Paul's shack since he was close to the man and might know something, but upon arriving they found no sign of Paul. Rain then suggested that they leave for her uncle's hunting ground which is at the west cove of the forest. During their journey, they notice a Northern European style wooden building and Rain explains that it was a lab the Umbrella Corporation built 20 years ago but that it was abandoned after a virus that was being studied there leaked out, and apparently killed many of the islanders. Since then, the Islanders have been afraid to go near that building fearing it might still contain the virus which Rain claims supposedly turned people into zombies. Continuing on, they noticed a truck and Norse leaves to investigate, finding the truck badly damaged and covered in blood. Kate then unexpectedly screams and informed Norse that something was in the woods. He tells the girls to stay in the car and goes after it. There he finds four Zombies shuffling after him. He then hurriedly returns to the car to warn the others only to see the car is surrounded by another two Zombies. Not wasting a moment Norse attacked the two creatures with a branch and then tried to get the car out of the mud but was unsuccessful. Upon realizing it was a lost cause the three abandoned the car and began to run through the woods but along the way Norse sees Kate accidentally slip and slide down a steep slope. Concerned for her safety Norse then tells Rain to go on ahead while he looks for Kate.

While Rain proceeds onwards Norse begins to wander through the forest to look for Kate but despite his best efforts he is not successful in finding. Abruptly his search is interrupted when he hears shots being fired. Running towards them he stumbles once again upon the strange woman from the other night. She notices him but quickly vanishes deeper into the forest. A little later Norse met up with Rain again, who tells him about an encounter she just had with her uncle. They decided to head back to the house but upon finding no signs Kate had been back there they headed to the harbor to try to contact the police on the mainland with the harbor phone. Unfortunately the pair find that not only was the phone not working but that most of the islanders will not help them due to Umbrella's strong influence in the area. Just then Paul appeared and was informed of recent events. He was irritated that Rain and Norse have not left the island and tells them to meet him and Bale at the lighthouse ruins the following morning.

Finding the Beardsley Castle[]

The next day, Norse and Rain headed towards the lighthouse. Once there, they witness Paul being shot and falling off a cliff. Norse ran towards the cliff where Paul was but sees no signs of him in the water as he was sucked into the raging waves below. He returned to where Rain is, only to find her sobbing after she discovered her uncle heavily injured from gunshot wounds nearby. Norse tears his shirt and tried to use it to staunch the blood from Bale's wound. Knowing he's dying though, Bale tells them that a sniper hired by Umbrella was the one who had shot him and killed Paul, and that Umbrella had been secretly continuing Tyrant Virus research on the island when it should have been stopped 20 years ago. Bale also explains that he apparently put a target on his own back when he witnessed Umbrella mercenaries kill a zombie during a rabbit hunt a few days ago, and since then several men had pursued him forcing Bale to wander between various hiding spots on the island. In addition, he had also found Kate's blue sneaker during his travels near the supposedly abandoned lab in the forest. After giving Norse his Colt 1911 pistol Bale entrusted Norse with his niece's safety and died leaving Rain in tears.

Now determined to get to the bottom of this Norse and Rain headed to the abandoned lab spotting the film crew shooting nearby at the back of the mountain. The duo ignore them and reach the site of the European building eventually entering it through a hidden entrance. The pair began to explore lab but could not find anything at first. Eventually though they found a door hidden behind a bookshelf leading to a staircase that goes down to the basement, Rain later found Kate's locket in front of generator near two passageways and they decided to follow the right path, whereupon the pair are met by monsters with gorilla like body, but with human like faces, and hook like claws. Norse kills one with his pistol before he and Rain are forced to run to the left passage where they spot an elevator. After a near death experience where one of the creatures nearly forced open the elevator, the duo managed to take the elevator to the surface and arrive at a cave near Beardsley Castle. Upon exiting the cave Rain explains that the Beardsleys were the original lords of the island but have fallen from grace due to an uprising in the 18th century. When Umbrella bought the land from the Beardsley, they established a special relationship with them that may still go on to this day.

Before she can speak further their conversation is interrupted when they realize someone is coming. They swiftly hid themselves in the bushes as a white limousine parked in front of the castle entrance with several servants exiting the building to greet the arrivals. Norse is then surprised to see the blonde man that is giving orders to the other servants was the same man he saw talking to movie director at the cove before. Shortly after this the pair is caught peeking by the man and are asked to vacate the premises. Norse suspects though that the man had already known about them and is convinced that he is at the heart of the enemies that abducted Kate and killed Bale and Paul and begins to form a plan in response.

Invitations From The Old Castle[]

Later the blonde servant from before, Gilliam, goes to Bale's house and introduces himself to the pair as the steward of the Beardsley household. He then invited them to a small dinner party which is being held that night. Norse opens the letter and sees the hostess signature as Mylène Beardsley, making him uneasy, however upon realizing the house is being watched by other men he and Rain reluctantly accept the invitation and Gilliam drives away from the house. That night the pair drove up to the castle and upon arriving they were escorted in by Gilliam. They along with other guests from companies in business with Umbrella were then introduced to Mylène. During the party, Norse realized the connection between the Beardsleys and Umbrella, namely that the family are not merely land donors but are also actively involved with Umbrella's work. He also is shocked to learn that Mylène had also come to know of his background somehow, something which should be impossible as his military record was supposed to be top secret.

Later during the party, Norse left Rain to investigate things and told her to leave the castle should he not return from his search for Kate in 30 minutes. After a fruitless search, he was about to head back when he was informed that Gilliam had escorted Rain to the back door. Just then, Norse heard Rain scream and chased after the sound following it to a large room where he was met by multiple armed men. Norse kills all the hostiles and takes their weapons but before he can do anything else the countess, who had been watching the fight via some cameras, activated a switch causing the floor to collapse under him. Finding himself now in a dungeon with multiple zombies Norse frantically sought to get away and sprinted for a staircase where he unexpectedly meets a now zombified Kate with her eyes gouged out. A distraught Norse then sadly kills her before continuing to the surface where out of desperation he throws a lever he finds by chance which activates a trap left by the castle's builders 500 years prior. The trap then collapses a large portion of the ceiling which smashes down and crushes a large part of the zombie horde.

In doing this though Norse inadvertently triggered a blackout and a series of explosions as many of the power and gas lines in the castle had been installed after the Beardsleys had forgotten about the trap's existence. With the power out several zombies are then able to enter the castle proper and begin feeding on the guests and servants who are helpless to fight back due to the explosions leaking nerve gas into several chambers. Norse meanwhile manages to avoid the zombies and gas by taking advantage a crack in the wall formed by the ceiling collapse and reached the back block of the castle

To Nightmare's end[]

Reaching Mylène's lab in the castle Norse enters the room finding it cold and sees human sized flasks hung up on the ceiling. Mylène then welcomed him to her laboratory over a monitor screen which also shows Rain bound with her hands tied behind her back. Angered by this sight Norse questions Mylène regarding her motives causing her to then explain to him how she was created through her father’s genetic engineering experiments and that furthermore her ambition is to be at the top of Umbrella, a position she explains is rightfully hers due to her family having supported the company secretly since it's earliest days. Mylène then released Rain into the lab before then unleashing multiple hairy monsters from the flasks for Norse to fight. Despite having to also protect Rain at the same time Norse manages to kill all of the monsters, leaving just one flask left. Mylène then opens it, revealing it to be the silver haired woman that Norse had encountered twice before. The countess then explained that the woman was Mylenia, another version of her born from combining her genes with her newly developed Neo-T Virus. After an intensive fight which sees Mylenia nearly decapitate Norse, Mylène personally enters the lab and offers him a chance to live by bowing down to her but he rejects her. Before she can say anything in response the castle is then rocked by numerous explosions from the power reactor. Gilliam then arrives at the scene shortly afterwards and tells Mylène that she has been fired from Umbrella for her unstable behavior and for getting all the allied CEOs killed. He then takes the watch from her right arm and smashes it, terminating her control over Mylenia. Mylène also learns that her three researchers Gazin, Yuri and Monet have betrayed her. Gilliam declares that the Beardsley's name will be removed from Umbrella's history and explains that Umbrella's true goals in all this were to acquire her computer-mediated genetic rewriting program, and store of knowledge, and then get rid of her.

Norse then tried to stop Gilliam from leaving and dashed towards him but only received a blow to his head from the butt of Gilliam's revolver for his efforts. After Norse recovers from the blow he and Rain search for a way out of the castle but they are stopped midway by Mylène, who proceeds to shoot at Rain but misses and grazes her shoulder. Norse then disarms Mylène and shoots her in the chest, killing her. The pair while supporting each other then makes their way out of the castle and eventually manage to grab the leg of the helicopter that Gilliam and his researchers are piloting. Climbing inside, Norse and Gilliam then wrestle with each other for control of the helicopter but while doing so the craft is rocked by an explosion from the ground and loses altitude. Sensing what's about to happen Norse shields Rain's head as they crash onto the side of the mountain. Fortunately the pair comes out unharmed but before they can rejoice, they are met with more zombies from the castle. Thinking quickly the pair decides to run for a nearby pier in the hopes of getting a boat to escape, but once there the pair found their way barred by several more zombies. Unexpectedly though the zombies are then shot dead by a wounded Gilliam, who explains he saved them only because he sought to kill the pair with his own hands. At that instant though Mylenia suddenly appeared before a baffled Gilliam and sliced his body in half to the others horror. The creature then unexpectedly began to speak, explaining how using the same cybernetic augmentations Mylène used earlier to hack into Norse’s military file she was able to duplicate and upload her persona into her alter ego's body when her original body had died essentially resurrecting her.

While the creature is preparing to attack him Norse orders Rain to start up the boat while he deals with Mylène/Mylenia. He then takes advantage of a momentary distraction to grab Gilliam's revolver and bisect Mylenia with a barrage from it, freeing him to run to the boat. Before the couple can leave though they find themselves attacked by the still living upper-body of Mylenia. The monster then tries to climb her way onto the boat's deck but at that moment Rain points out the presence of a water vortex nearby. Norse then attacked Mylenia with the ship's anchor causing her to lose her grip and be swallowed by the vortex where she drowns. With the danger behind them the ship then sailed off into the sunrise as an exhausted but content Norse received a kiss on the cheek from Rain before drifting off to sleep.
