An industrial city in the American Midwest. To the north of the city lies Raccoon Forest, and the Arklay Mountains beyond.
Raccoon city is a medium-sized city with a population of about 100,000, although it was once nothing more than a minor backwater town. Global pharmaceutical giant Umbrella was mainly responsible for this drastic change.
Roughly thirty percent of the population are employed either directly or indirectly by Umbrella. The company occupies an indispensible role for the city, and is able to directly influence the highest political offices.

アライグマの名を冠したこの街は、人口約10万人を数える中規模都市で、かつては小さな地方都市であったが、アンブレラが行った関連工場の誘致に伴い街は飛躍的に発展。
約3割の市民がアンブレラ、もしくは関連企業に勤務している現在では、同社は市政を動かすほどの影響力を持ち、ラクーンシティに欠かせない存在となっている。
