Raccoon Park during the outbreak.

Raccoon Park was an attraction within the former midwestern mountain community of Raccoon City. It was located to the very north of the city, on the west bank of the Circular river. To the immediate south and south west was the Raccoon General Hospital and Saint Michael Clock Tower, respectively. Across the river was Umbrella's Incineration Disposal Plant P-12A and a junkyard.[1]

While relatively small in size, Raccoon Park fulfilled a number of features. The southern part was a plaza for citizens to meet at; the north was a cemetery and the east a pathway crossing the ponds towards a suspension bridge.

History

In the leadup to the USS attack on Dr. William Birkin, the t-Virus had been slowly pouring out into Raccoon City in what became known as the Raccoon City Destruction Incident. A number of residents were infected with the virus and collapsed into comas; mistaken for dead, they later rose from their graves on October 1, 1998. The cemetery itself was destroyed that day by a burrowing Grave Digger, which caused the ground to subside. Umbrella had set up a radio station in a nearby cabin at some earlier point in September, intent on relaying orders to Monitor agents from Umbrella HQ.

Meanwhile, at the eastern side, a UBCS team moved through the Hunter γ dominated pond area in their search for the Nemesis-T Type.
