Escape From Raccoon City title

Resident Evil: Escape from Raccoon City was a walkthrough attraction that was present at Universal Studios Orlando for their Halloween Horror Nights 23 event in 2013. The attraction was set in Raccoon City during the 1998 t-Virus outbreak.[1]

Event[]

"Raccoon City is overrun with Umbrella Corporation’s most terrifying experiments, and the only option is complete destruction. You’ll need to duck and dodge Lickers, Hunters, and Nemesis himself if you want any chance of escaping Capcom’s video game terrors before missiles send everything back to hell."

Escape from Raccoon City was based on a reimagined City Area from the original Resident Evil 2, consisting of several stores on the city streets up to the Raccoon Police Station's front entrance as well as Emmy's Diner from the opening cutscene. The actors for the event includes several Zombies, Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine, the latter of whom is menaced by Nemesis-T02. Accompanying them are several animatronic Zombie Dogs and Lickers. The setting was developed by Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and Michael Aiello, Creative Director for Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights.[2]

Reception[]

  • Unlike the events at Universal Studios Japan which held a multi-year deal, the Resident Evil event at Orlando was a one-time-only event and followed a Silent Hill event in 2012. It shared the 2023 event with mazes themed on The Walking Dead, Cabin in the Woods, and Evil Dead. Initial press reviews of the event was lukewarm, and while the attention to detail was praised by some they found few frights.[3][4]
