- Though Resident Evil: Survivor being a part of the mainstream canon or not is sometimes debated among fans, the opening of Resident Evil 0 acknowledges it as being part of the franchise lore. Both were written by Flagship writer, Noboru Sugimura, who was in charge of Resident Evil story writing at the time.
