The Riot Gun is the second shotgun available to the player in Resident Evil 4. The Riot gun is an Upgradable weapon.
Gameplay
It can be purchased in the maingame from the Merchant for 32,000₧ after the Player enters the castle and finds The Merchant. It takes up 16 (8x2) spaces of inventory and uses Shotgun Shells.
Compared to the other Shotguns, the Riot Gun has a tighter pellet spread. This allows it to still be useful and cause damage at further ranges. Like the Shotgun, the Riot Gun is fired from the shoulder meaning it is easy to line up headshots quickly in case of an emergency, whereas the Striker is aimed from the hip. It is the most expensive Shotgun to upgrade.

Strategies
- Thanks to the tight spread, the gun has a good chance of taking out sprouted plaga. This also allows the Riot Gun to maintain its damage and knockdown effect at surprising distances, something no other shotgun can do.( The basic Shotgun is capable of keeping its damage at any distance but doesn't keep its knockdown effect)
