The Tragedy of Makoba Village
(1997 radio drama)

Sarah Simmons was a resident of the Makoba Village, a settlement in the Arklay Mountains populated by a satanic cult.

Biography[]

During the 1980s, Sarah lived in Raccoon City where she raised two children - Lorraine and Toby - with her husband, Harvey, who was a Protestant minister. When Harvey's crisis of faith led to an obsession with a Satanic cult, the family moved to Makoba, a village deep in the Arklay Mountains, which was home to it. There they were kept effectively as captives, though Sarah felt willing to remain because of her husband who had become the village priest.[1] Sarah herself never renounced her faith in Christ, and made efforts to stop Lorraine and Toby from converting.[2] Fearing one day she may have to escape, she kept track of a boat which was kept near the church that could be taken down to the city.[3]

In June 1998, Harvey was infected with t-Virus after a ritual involving a snake, which was itself infected. Like he and the other participants, he developed symptoms of Cannibal Disease, becoming agitated and slipping into bouts of physical violence, of which Sarah was repeatedly at the receiving end of. On 21 July, the violence escalated and the village became too dangerous to walk in. Sarah hid her children in a closet to keep safe, and was soon attacked by a Zombie breaking in through the window and subsequently died of her wounds.[2][4][5]
