In the 2002 Resident Evil remake, certain game progression will lead to sudden enemy appearances in rooms, such as breaking through windows or smashing doors down. The biohazard Kaitai Shinsho guidebook describes these enemies as Shinshutsukibotsu (神出鬼没?), meaning something which appears unexpectedly, but literally meaning "phantom".
