Hi - Forerunner, again. I wanted to tell you the good and bad points of Resident Evil Wiki's two editor types: Wikitext and Rich text.
The Wikitext editor is the original editor used on most wikis, though has been replaced by the rich text on some. Here, minor coding mistakes can be spotted easily. However, as you cannot see whether or not your coding (eg. templates, wikitables) worked to the manner in which you intended, you must use "preview" for such instances - many users will instead just click "save page" and leave a potential mess unresolved.
This editor allows the templates you are using to appear in the editor as they will on the finished article. This allows you to make sure that you have implemented the coding properly rather than risk making multiple, potentially-annoying minor edits. Unfortunately, the placing of objects and the usage of coding can distort the page easily. For example, users using the Rich text editor have been known to routinely insert image files into headings, which would be noticable in the Wikitext format. Other coding such as hyperlinks is also used improperly - internal links are sometimes entered in an external manner ([http://residentevil.wikia.com/Jill_Valentine Jill Valentine] rather than [[Jill Valentine]]).
How to change editor
If you desire to use the other editor to your current system, follow these three steps.
Step 1: move the mouse to the top right corner of the screen and hover other your username. A drop-down menu will appear; click on "My preferences".
Step 2: After the page loads (it may require some time to separate the content into the categories), click on the "Editing" section.
Step 3: (de-)Select the "Enable rich text editor" box.
Step 4: Scroll down and click "save".
