The series began in the small, secluded Spencer Mansion and has exploded into an ongoing global conflict, pulling in characters from nearly every installment. Resident Evil 6 brings forth an explosive, action-oriented focus to the survival horror series. The series' identity has morphed over time, but there are still many qualities that bridge between old and new games. As we take a look at the different campaign routes, enemies, and environments, which game elements do you prefer over others?
|Leon's Campaign||Leon Kennedy is a special aid to the president and his campaign begins with a brutal killing. Leon and his partner, Helena Harper fight their way through Tall Oaks, dealing with a more 'traditional' zombie threat. Leon's campaign in Resident Evil 6 could be considered the most 'survival horror' of the other three campaigns. He deals with dangerous special enemies and swarms of zombies, but has help from his partner and other support. His campaign takes him beyond Tall Oaks.||Resident Evil 4 takes place in Spain, with Leon being sent on a special mission to recover the president's daughter, Ashley, who has recently been kidnapped. After stumbling upon a town surrounded by unpredictable and violent locals, he takes matters into his own hands. His struggle is mainly a solo effort, taking him into rural towns, a large castle, as well as hidden laboratories where the truth behind the Las Plagas is revealed.|
|Chris' Campaign||Chris Redfield and his partner Piers Nivans are fighting across the infected streets of China in his Resident Evil 6 campaign. Beforehand, Chris and Piers survive their sqaud's massacre in Edonia, which severely effects Chris. In China, Chris and Peirs fight through the J'avo threat. Gameplay in this campaign is very action oriented, more so than the other campaigns. Chris develops a personal vendetta against the woman who caused the deaths of his squad.||Resident Evil 5 follows Chris and another partner, Sheva Alomar as they combat a bio-terrorism outbreak in Africa. The mission to deal with a bio weapons dealer named Ricardo Irving. Chris also has a personal stake in the mission, attempting to find his old partner Jill Valentine who disappeared after confronting Albert Wesker beforehand. The two partners team up with other BSAA members to stop the threat from spreading.|
|Jake's Campaign||Jake Muller is a member of the Eastern European mercenary faction, and also happens to be the son of the series' longtime villain, Albert Wesker. Jake Muller and his campaign partner, Sherry Birkin (daughter of Umbrella scientist William Birkin) begin their campaign being viciously pursued by the Ustanak, a bio-organic Juggernaut working alongside the woman in the blue dress.||Jill Valentine is attempting to escape the ruins of Raccoon City, avoiding death at every turn. Her difficult escape is only amplified by the imposing Nemesis-T Type. This creature is created with the t-Virus, and is an immensely intelligent and deadly hunter. Jill is consistently hunted by Nemesis, who was created specifically to hunt down S.T.A.R.S members.|
|Enemies||The first three Resident Evil games dealt with the outbreak of the T-Virus, turning innocent people into mindless, flesh craving zombies. They are dull and slow, but being caught between them could prove to be a life-threatening mistake. These zombies were the primary enemy, but other genetically modified creatures such as Lickers, Hunters, and Chimeras bring forth a more deadly challenge.||Resident Evil 4 brought forth a new type of zombie, called the Ganado, which could be clearly defined as a new class of zombie. The Majini of RE5 and the J'avo of RE6 have similar traits. Instead of being slow, lumbering, and having a hunger for flesh, these zombies could communicate, organize, and utilize various weapons to use against the player. These creatures could also morph into something more grotesque before death. Special bio-organic weapons such as the El Gigante or the Reaper could also become a vary deadly adversaries.|
