For the similar machine pistol from Village, see V61 Custom.

The VZ61 is a submachine gun featured in Resident Evil 5. It is based on the Škorpion vz. 61‎.

Gameplay[]

Found in Chapter 1-1 in the Public Assembly, in a case on the right side of the red gate which will be blown by Kirk. It is the first machine gun available, and the first firearm that can be acquired after the starting M92F. As a result, the player has ample time to purchase upgrades for it.

The weapon has low firepower, but a large magazine. Its critical rate can also be improved, making decapitation shots more frequent. When fully upgraded, it has the highest ammo capacity of any gun.

Fully upgrading the VZ61 and beating the game will unlock the Gatling Gun for purchase. Doing so will also open the option to buy infinite ammo for the VZ61 for 6,000 Exchange Points.

In The Mercenaries minigame, the VZ61 appears in the loadouts of Sheva Alomar (BSAA) and Jill Valentine (Battlesuit). Under control of the P30, Jill Valentine dual wields this weapon in the main game. A single VZ61 is also her default weapon in the Desperate Escape DLC.

It takes a total of 77,000 to buy and fully upgrade the VZ61, or just 75,000 if the player takes the one available in game.
