The Valve Handle is a recurring item in the Resident Evil series that first appears in Resident Evil 2.
Resident Evil 2Edit
"I can open/close the valves with this."
In Resident Evil 2, Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy can find the valve handle in either the cabin beside the Raccoon City Police Department (Scenario A) or lying on a shelf in an office in the police station (Scenario B). The valve handle is first used on the roof of the police station to put out a fire caused by a crashed helicopter. The valve handle will clear the fire near the wrecked helicopter, allowing Claire and Leon to detonate the rubble blocking the passage to Brian Irons office. Later in the game, it's used again in the Sewage Disposal Plant to elevate and lower a catwalk over a pool of sewage in order to allow the character to pass safely. Claire and Leon can also use the valve handle to deactivate a rotating fan, which will allow them to take a shortcut between the sewers and Sewage Disposal Plant.
The Valve Handle is used many times in CODE:Veronica; first as the Octa Valve Handle later with an attachment it becomes the Sq. Valve Handle.
To be used the first time it has to be modified into the Octagon shape to disperse the gas in the mining room. The second time it has to be given an attachment to convert it back to the square shape.
Resident Evil ZeroEdit
In Resident Evil Zero, the valve handle is used to open a door in the Arklay Mountains Water Treatment Plant. It is first obtained by completing a puzzle taken from RE2 that involved moving wooden crates to create a bridge. The Valve Handle can only be obtained when Rebecca reunites with Billy, as the puzzle cannot be solved with only one character present.
Resident Evil Outbreak seriesEdit
Resident Evil Outbreak and its sequel both use the Valve Handle in different scenarios. In "Below Freezing Point" it is used to open a shutter and release a ladder on the floor with the huge plant; In order to get it, a player must put the Frozen Wrench in hot water and then use it to open one of the panels. The correct panel is the right one on EASY, NORMAL and HARD, or the left one on VERY HARD.
Resident Evil Outbreak File #2 has the Valve Handle appear in "underbelly", where it is used to drain water that has built up in the lower levels of a Kite Bros. Railway station. It is used twice in a row, once to drain the water and again to activate the sprinkler system when an out of control train crashes into another on the platform. But the later will only work if the adjacent pipe has been sealed with strong tape; either from the store room or David King's tool kit.
