The lift (リフト rifuto?) is an area that is featured in Resident Evil 4 for both the main game and Separate Ways.

Description[]

The lift area of the village contains two gondola posts separated by a deep valleyside, with the cliffs to the west having been dug out by the locals.

Guide[]

A Merchant can be found here in a small hut to the right (if you enter from the Barriers) along with a small house with dump full of trash beside it. The Merchant has a barrel with a random item next to him. The house has some Handgun Ammo sitting on some barrels outside, and itself contains a Typewriter, some Rifle Ammo, and the Village's Last Defense document. There is a door up the centre with a retinal scanner which require the False Eye. The lift leads to the lower section of the valley, and eventually the Slaughterhouse. Another merchant can be found on the way to the Slaughterhouse. A barrel with a random item inside sits on the other side of the entrance to the top end of the lift.

Upon entering the lift, a single Ganado for every platform is ready to aboard the lift determined to cut the chain which will cause the lift to fall. If this happens, it will result in instant death. Shooting them off of their platforms (or the gondola, should they be on it) stops this from happening. Groups of Ganados wielding thrown weapons continuously come up the other side of the gondola during the first ride. One shot to these Ganados will cause them to drop off the side of their car, killing them.

A small control room on the lower side of the valley contains lockers with Handgun Ammo and a Flash Grenade inside. Halfway down the stairs is a side path leading into the side of the valley, with three Ganados defending the inside. A randomized barrel sits at the bottom of the ladder inside, and at the end of it all, a chest with the Yellow Catseye inside. Back outside and further down the stairs the second Merchant can be found with a box of Handgun, Shotgun, and TMP Ammo sitting next to him, as well as a Typewriter. Further down this path is the door leading to the Slaughterhouse.

Location Action Localization Original script
The door to the Road below the cliff while it is locked OPEN (Locked door sound) It won't open. It must be locked from the other side.
The door to the Barrier while it is locked OPEN (Blocked door sound) It won't open. It must be barred from the other side.
The door to the Slaughterhouse while it is locked OPEN It won't open. I guess this is the only way out of this village. This light looks like it's some sort of retinal scanner.
The control panel CHECK It looks like these are controls for the lift. I better not mess with them because I need a ride back.
The bed CHECK This blood's still fresh. Was there some kind of ritual here?

Separate Ways[]

Location Action Localization Original script
The lift while it isn't moving GET ON There's no reason to board the lift if it's not going anywhere.
The lift controls OPERATE It looks like the lift needs a key to activate it.
The door to the slaughter house OPEN (locked door SFX) The door won't open. It must be locked. I need to find a key.
The door to the road to the castle OPEN (locked door SFX) It won't open. This must be where that little runt I've read about is holed up.
The door to the Barrier OPEN (Blocked door SFX) It won't open. It's probably locked from the other side.
The door to the Road below the cliff OPEN (Locked door SFX) The door won't open. It's locked. I'd better hurry up and find that vagrant while there's still time.
