The Kennel is an area of Raccoon Police Station featured in Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil Outbreak File #2 and the Resident Evil 2 remake. It also appears briefly in Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.
Description[]
The Kennel was where the dogs used by the RPD's K-9 Unit were kept; however, during the Raccoon City Outbreak, the dogs were all infected and the unit was wiped out.
There are three kennel cells located inside this room. A manhole can be located at the back of the room that appears to be leading down toward the underground waterway.
In the 2019 remake, this room has many small kennels, some of which are opened. There are no zombie dogs however - at least not alive. Upon entering this room, the player can see a Licker feasting on a dead zombie dog, other zombie dogs can be seen on the ground, all dead. However, in Leon's scenario, the Lickers are all replaced by Zombie Dogs instead, some of the dogs inside the cages were still alive.

Resident Evil 2 (1998)[]
Leon must pass through this area in both his scenarios in order to reach the Sewage Disposal Plant. Claire can find the Square Crank here in her B Scenario. The manhole located up front can be open using the Manhole Opener that can be found inside the Holding Cell. Two infected zombie dogs can be found each in their cell. When the time is right or after you take the Red Herb, they will break from their cell and will chase down the player. In the left zombie dog cell, you can find a Blue Herb.
Resident Evil Outbreak File #2[]
The Kennel is initially locked, but can be unlocked by Kevin with the Joker Key. The player will find the dogs' handler Tony, who will briefly exchange a few words with Kevin before succumbing to his wounds. After all five plates have been placed in the statue in the Main Hall, the player can find the Ace Key here.
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles[]
The Kennel serves as the starting point for HUNK's scenario. A First Aid Spray can be found lying on the barrels by the door.
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles[]
The Operation Report 2 file is in this room, immediately when entering the room, shoot the light on the ceiling for the file.
A First-aid spray is next to the location of the file and there is also Shotgun ammo and Gold bars when the duo turns the corner.
There are a total of 7 enemies in this room, 2 of them are zombie dogs that, just like the original, will break out of the cages they're in.
Resident Evil 2 (2019)[]
Claire[]
Claire must go through the Kennel in order to retrieve the Key (Diamond) at the Morgue. This room has a few Lickers that could be sneaked past if the player doesn't run, after obtaining the Diamond Key, more Lickers will spawn at the Kennel on the way back.
Leon[]
Leon must go through the Kennel in order to retrieve the Diamond Key at the Morgue as well as getting through the Generator Room (requires the Square Crank to access). The Lickers in this room are all replaced by Zombie Dogs. Until the player has reached the Generator Room's Switchboard, more Zombie Dogs will appear to ambush the player.
