Ominous Battle (AC-010) is an Action card in Resident Evil: The Deck Building Game.[1] Its featured in the game's more advanced scenarios and has several effects.

Overview[]

Ominous Battle has a Gold Cost of 60, which makes it not too difficult to acquire with the higher Ammo/Gold Cards. Its first "symbol effect" gives the player +10 Gold, which is a small contribution to whatever Gold the player might already have. Its second effect allows the player to draw three cards from their Inventory, but at the expense of the card's text effect, which makes the player Trash a card from their hand. Its a steep price; trashing is much different than discarding, and involves sending a card back to the Resource Area, where it would have to be repurchased or possibly gained by an opposing player. The card does not stack Actions but if used with ammo stacking cards such as Reload (AC-005) and Escape from the Dead City (AC-004), the Gold and extra cards accumulated can carry a player a long way on a single turn.

The artwork of the card is taken from the cover art of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, depicting Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Jack Krauser, and Steve Burnside. All of these characters are also character cards in the Deck Building Game.

Strategies[]

  • Despite making the player trash one card, Ominous Battle's card drawing is remarkable, and is second only to its would-be successor Fierce Battle. Both of these cards are invaluble in the hands of the second Jack Krauser card, which gains more damage for every card in the player's hand.
  • The first Albert Wesker card gains +20 Gold when the player Explores. Combined with this card, the amount of gold can accumulate a little bit better than it would through normal Action stacking.
  • Trashing unwanted cards is a specialty of Rebecca Chambers, and alongside Shattered Memories (AC-003), this card can be a small help in her overall strategy.
